Do I really have to ask that question?
The crazy prick would have been impeached, found guilty and removed from office in a heartbeat.
The Dems would have had no problem getting rid or him. Nor would the Republicans.
My point here is the double standard.
Trump would have been gone within weeks, or months, at most.
But the fact that he's a Republican president protects him from every crime imaginable.
Any American who isn't brain dead should learn from this.
Democrat Bad.
Republican good.
What sane human being would want the Republican Party running this country? Or any state? Or any city? Or any county? Or anything at all that required integrity and honesty?
Republicans have shown us who and what they are. What will it take for people to "get it?"

(5,433 posts)Consequently, I think many in power fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. I'm convinced Manafort wanted to be caught lying so that he'd live out a long life in prison rather than die at the hand of his masters.

(7,580 posts)As a Texan I have asked this for decades - it boggles the mind. Their ideology seems to attract a lot of people here. They love their guns, they love hating minorities, they feel entitled, and view all of their problems as being "caused by "THEM". Also very significantly many religious zealots think they are "better than" or "holier than thou" and the GOP fully embraces this.

(15,027 posts)So called "Christian" make up a large part of their base.
I'm sure that many of them are true believers who have bought into the propaganda they have been fed. And I'm also sure that many of them are people who hate "The Other."
Even if the Dems win back the presidency and the entire senate in 2020, the hatred these people have won't go away.
Do you suppose there's some kind of rehab for this? Or is it a lifelong disease that is incurable?

(7,580 posts)the key is to become a friend with someone of another race, another religion, and it will become obvious we are all humans with common interests and feelings. The problem is that most religious people not only fear or hate others different than themselves but view them as a threat. That even occurs among "Christian" religions. The indoctrination, especially since childhood, is hard to break. Feelings of guilt are part of religion. I know I grew up like this and it took me years to finally reject all forms of this insanity.
