I owe how much? Americans shocked by impact of new tax law

Wait, I owe the IRS?

The first tax filing season under the new federal tax law is proving to be surprising, confusing — and occasionally frightening — for some Americans, especially those accustomed to getting money back from the government.

Take Andy Kraft and Amy Elias of Portland, Oregon. The couple had grown comfortable getting a small refund each year, a few hundred dollars or more. Then they found out they owe $10,160 this year.

“I will never forget the moment, I thought ‘We look good’ and then we added in the next W-2 and my jaw hit the floor,” Kraft said. “There was no way I wanted to believe that what I was looking at was accurate.”

Again, the tax laws need to be repealed, and the Amazon's of the world and the people that run them and these corporations, that don't pay on dime, not one fucking dime, should pay, along with the Hedge Funds, Wall Street banks

Bring back the tax laws prior to 1959......................90% tax on earned income

I know that Democrats warned the citizens about how fucked up the new tax laws were but alas many did not listen since they got from a few dollars to maybe a hundred dollars on their paychecks.

I tried to let my ex co-workers know what would happen and they laughed and told me I was a delusion liberal.

it is not and has not ever been the opposite, no matter how they fame those two words "tax cut".

Now what are they going to say, delusional liberal, the "facts" are speaking out on what they neo-libertarian facts did, they set this up to go after the individual trust accounts down the road, namely Social Security..............this is just amazing, how people think in the short term........................

the GOP used to cry the same tax rate would be double taxation. but now that corporations earn billions without paying taxes...their tax rate is obscene

based on the allowances set in the W4 form. This happened to my wife & I, leaving us w/ a 12K debt to the Feds & 3K to the state. We had no idea. Adding insult to injury both tax authorities assessed fines for underpayment.
