The KKK is still here, active, and ready for more lynchings

This disgusting piece of hateful shit was printed in a small Alabama newspaper. I guess I was naive enough to think that the Klan was toxic to sane people, and that the South was becoming enlightened. Well, the fact that some Alabama newspaper can print this trash seems to indicate that the publisher has no fear of retaliation, has no sense of decency, and believes that many of his readers still buy into KKK hate/insanity and love of lynchings. (This is from today's Washington Post.)

Two decades at go, the editor of the tiny Democrat-Reporter newspaper in Linden, Ala., was being talked about as a potential contender for the Pulitzer Prize. A congressional citation read on the floor of the House of Representatives in 1998 lauded “his truly American heroism and dedication to the truth” and called him “one of Alabama’s finest and most ethical journalists.” Glowing profiles in the New York Times, People magazine and the American Journalism Review highlighted his tenacious reporting and down-home Southern charm.

Now, Goodloe Sutton is back in the news again — this time because he recently called for mass lynchings and suggested that the Ku Klux Klan should return to “clean out” Washington.
“Time for the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again,” began a Feb. 14 editorial in the paper, which went on to claim that Democrats, along with some Republicans, were planning to raise taxes in Alabama. It concluded, “Seems like the Klan would be welcome to raid the gated communities up there. - more - ”

and they have infiltrated city, county and federal government offices, the military and the police forces.
OK hired a deputy who was fired from his last dept for being a confirmed member and just this week Oregon admitted they have a police commissioner who has been protecting them.

They come in different disguises and under different names.

But they are the same haters.

Do you suppose there's a cure for this?

We really need Americans to bury this shit once and for all.

"Land of the free, home of the brave" was always bullshit.

My guess is that in the near future, the Democratic Party will control the Presidency and the Senate. When that happens, new laws must be passed to put an end to the shit that Lincoln defeated in 1865.

It's difficult to erase hate and bigotry from people's hearts and minds. But we can sure as hell make universal education, right on through college, available to all.

Want to defeat hatred? Educate everyone. It may take a generation or two, but it will work.

I'm serious about this. If the Klan comes to your neighborhood, everyone comes outside with their shotguns, loaded with buckshot rounds. Those cowardly Klan boys will hightail it. But, it takes people actually doing that. Racists at that level cannot be educated. They can only be countered.

I'm all for education, but there are people out there who cannot be educated out of their bigotry. They need to be warned that violence will be answered with people willing to counter that violence.

I don't think that will ever happen, of course. But, it's a sure-fire winning strategy. It would clear the neighborhood of men in white robes, I guarantee.

But, I'm sorry, MM. I can't agree with you about fighting violence with violence.

I never discuss my life experiences online. But I will discuss what I've learned. Violence always escalates. This is a historical truth. And it continues to escalate until one side crushes the other.

If Lincoln had crushed the South, would we be where we are today? Who knows?

But had the Civil War continued in a more "informal manner," America might better or worse for it. Impossible to tell.

Fighting the lunatics with buckshot isn't the answer. All that will stop them is the rule of law instituted by a sane/educated/determined population.

13. Here's the thing: If they've come to take me or my neighbor

off to be lynched, then I will defend myself and my neighbor. That principle is one I will always follow. I will not stand by and watch if I have the means to defend. I'm talking about real and present threats, which the KKK is famous for. They are also famous for backing down when confronted, since they are cowards.

It is the same principle that applies when you see someone being bullied. The only proper response is to step in and insist that the bullying stop immediately. Now, that can be a more or less dangerous thing to do, but usually ends the present bullying without violence. However, if one is going to defend self or others, one must be prapared to take the necessary steps to do that.

I am not a pacifist when it comes to defense of the defenseless or myself. Nor will I ever be if I am capable of that defense.

KKK, White Supremacists, and Neo Nazism is a plague that never went away, it just rebranded and regrouped until recently. There are proud White Supremacists with offices in the White House today. There was an actual active member of the Austrian Nazi Party who worked in Trump's White House.

The country is going to have a great reckoning soon, these disgusting monsters have somehow taken more power in this country than they've had in generations.

Decent people have always been in the majority. The haters have always been in the minority.

But that minority has been poisoning democracy for years. And it seems they won't go away.

So what about the rest of us? What are we going to do about it?

Will more human beings be lynched before decent people have had enough and find a way to put an end to the haters forever?

12. One of the worst things about Trump's Presidency

Is how gleeful the KKK and Neo Nazis are, this has completely vindicated them in their minds, they have their guy in power and he's doing their bidding to Make America White Again. Trump is very clearly a Racist and likely a White Supremacist. He's also probably admires the Nazis and what they were trying to accomplish.

It makes me sick every single day to know that man is directing our country.
