The Official "I'll wait to see who gets into the primary then vote for whoever best aligns with...

...my views on the future of the country" Thread.

I voted for Bernie last time. It'll be interesting to see how our candidates this time differ. I'm thinking it'll most likely be slight but we'll have to see who all gets in.

We voted for Bernie in the Michigan primary but voted for Hillary in the election. I think it's important to vote for whomever the democrats nominate, this isn't the time to be picky.

I saw a t-shirt on Cafe Press today; Literally ANYONE ELSE.

My feelings exactly.

...for how you want things to be. Don't let someone sway you with stupid "electability" arguments and such. I just think the primary is where you express to the party the direction you want things to head.

Primaries are times for more "purity" than" strategy". Let them know who most aligns with your political outlook. That person may not get nominated, but the candidate will notice how much support they got.

Personally I'm not going to be making too many decisions until Spring 2020. Heck, more than half of these people may be out of the race by then.

There was a period of time back in the day that would have made me a Kucinich voter. I probably would have voted Nader had that been the case. I have never voted for Kucinich or Nader.

Your point about waiting is spot on. Though there are some I know I won't be voting for.

Of course, I don't have much to add since I'm waiting to see how things shake out over the next few quarters. But here's to hoping for sanity and restraint as we watch the deck shuffle and reshuffle heading towards the primaries.

(As a public service, I'll point out that life on DU, and esp. General Discussion, is much, much better when you make use of the 'Auto-trash by Keyword' function in your profile. MUCH better!)

Running a strong principled leader who is the best person to defeat Trump in the Electoral College is essential to my views on the future of the country.

I think Joe Biden should be our nominee. I like Cory Booker for VP.

We have a lot of talented Democrats running. I have deep admiration for most.

We need to win in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. Biden would beat Trump in these states. No other potential nominee is a slam dunk to do the same under today's conditions. Biden would likely win Florida, Nevada, and Arizona. Good chance at North Carolina. Red states in play.

Winning against Trump best aligns with my values.

Even though I knew both of them were lightning rods for constant and unabated attacks from the Right. Unfortunately I think Bernie will be a lightning rod for both sides which will create the same kind of attacks from BOTH parties.

I will wait to see who gets the nomination because right now I like all the new candidates. I think whoever gets nominated will be an outstanding leader who will fight to make this country a better Democracy than it was before the Bush and Trump Eras.

I've met with Harris, Bullock, Hickenlooper and Swalwell, and since their policy positions are likely the same, I focus on questions about strategy. messaging, dealing with the Trump personality, etc.

The primary matters.

I am going to look carefully at all the primary candidates. Then I am going to go out and work my ass off for the one who most closely aligns with what I believe. If I don't do that, we will end up with a candidate like Bernie or Tulsi. I would bet there are repiggies who wished they had worked harder to get someone other than trump as their nominee.

Our nominee matters. I do not want it to be Bernie, and I will do whatever I can to see that it is not him.
