arent there laws about being accessories before AND after the fact. failure to report a crime and the ex post facto law, and aiding and abetting criminals?
Knowledge of a crime being committed but not reporting it. Failure to report a crime after it has been committed or helping the criminal hide evidence after the crime is committed. Deliberately derailing a criminal investigation would lead to them being convicted of crimes.
There is very little evidence to believe Trump wont be indicted for some crimes. Why put themselves in jeopardy?
Maybe this is why Mueller hasnt been fired.

(53,410 posts)does that have relevance to firing Mueller, or not firing him.
I dont think Trump is appointing people to protect the GOP per se. Every action he takes is solely for his own benefit. If the GOP gets protected its just by chance.
Its because of there questions that Im posting here.

(19,908 posts)appointing people who are giving him the "we'll protect ya boss", but we've seen little evidence that they do it when they get in there....Berman and Whitaker are but two examples. If it comes down to Trump or the GOP, I'm confident Barr will choose his party over this interloper.

(53,410 posts)Steven Miller. Though Ill give them credit for being evil, Im not so sure theyre deeply knowledgeable about the law.
And the fact his appointees havent fired Mueller is probably because once appointed theyre filled in on the laws and realize they can go to jail for being accessories.
Im becoming more and more convinced our government is being run by some people who arent very savvy about the legalities in place. Theyre more prone to thinking on mobster levels of how to break or circumvent the law.
My example is Trump himself. No matter how many times he gets sued by the states he just keep doing the same thing. So far not all the kings men or all the kings horses have been able to make him change his modus operandi, and to continue the analogy, hes perilously close to falling off his Wall.
