Trump administration blocks funds for abortion clinics

The Trump administration has taken aim at Planned Parenthood by issuing a rule barring groups that provide abortions or abortion referrals from participating in the $286m federal family planning programme.

The move, announced on Friday, is expected to redirect tens of millions of dollars from the women's health provider to faith-based groups.

The change means federally funded family planning clinics can no longer refer a patient for abortion and must maintain a “clear physical and financial separation” between services funded by the government and any organisation that provides abortions or abortion referrals.

Republicans have made hay in calling Democrats baby killers. When they jump on me the very first thing that I respond to them is if they realize that the countries that have the strictest anti-abortion laws are also the countries that have the highest rates of abortion. They don't believe me.

I then ask them, how about instead of pushing for a law to ban abortion you start out doing other things that will actually make a difference? Yes, sex education is one thing, also providing contraception, also making adoptions easier. I ask them why not do these things first instead of pushing for a political talking point that is shown to not cure the problem.

Trump is emptying the treasury hand over fist and giving them money through contracts and tax breaks - transferring ever more of the wealth of the many into the hands of the few. These oligarchs want nothing more than a labor force comprised of fearful, ignorant wage slaves who will stand still for the worst abuses.

Pence is busy working to make us a theocracy - to impose a 'christian' Sharia law on this nation so that we can all live in fear and ignorance.
