The European Union has vowed swift retaliation if Trump follows through on his threat and has prepared tariffs on a total of 20 billion euros in U.S. goods.

Not all view the crowded field favorably.

He can't run, now. He's needed in the House. The timing is bad for him to run in the future. Assuming Dems win in 2020, that locks in that President 2020-2028. Then a Republican will likely win, which is 2028-2036. That makes Schiff 75 at that time. Technically not too old, but in reality, it would be an issue. Also, after that many years in the House (assuming he even wins all those future years and is still in the House), he would have a looooong record to attack. That's one reason Senators and House reps with long records rarely have won the Presidency (if ever).

But it's possible he'd turn into a Biden. Schiff in 2036 would be similar to Biden now

favorite of mine. Right now, since finally getting rid of the Orange County rethuglican dead weight, California has an embarrassment of riches at all levels of government.

In fact this afternoon, more than a few long suffering DPOC supporters are getting together for a gloating Party. Rohrabacher was my House unrepresentative whose eviction will be celebrated today. Along with ed royce. 'me-me' walters and darrell issa

Not by holding classes, that's not how it's done. But by the committee assignments she gives, and the opportunities to grow. People who are capable learn and grow. Then their peers elect them, and so on. She didn't just waltz into the House one day and say "Hi there peons, I am now your Speaker" -- other Democratic House representatives elected her of their own free will, based on her proven abilities to lead.

If Schiff or Swallwell want to be Speaker after she retires, they will let it be known to their peers. So will a lot of other congresscritters. Then, presuming Dems retain the majority in the House, the Dems will hold an election and decide who they want to lead them.

That's how it's done. It's not magic, and it's not corrupt.

Need training at all. They are all accomplished individuals. The first thing Schiff did was to hire Attorneys experienced in money lawndering.

I keep thinking about what Bloomberg said about Trump. He also said he business world knew Trump as a liar and cheat.
