Cities competing with each other to our national detriment. If we want Amazon in Ohio we need a federal effort.

tug of war between cities and states to get the 'best deal', which usually most of the time means that the city/state that wins is actually losing.

Sure the cities/states may get the jobs but usually the actual number of promised jobs never materializes nor do the anticipated tax revenues. Look at FoxConn in WI and recent blurbs about them not even doing the project still after all of this happened (the tax giveaways, etc.). FoxConn backed off then but I suspect that this story is still going on (they will do something else (FoxConn).

When the RAMS were in St. Lous MO we were promised literally the moon when St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke brought the team and promised to leave them in STLMO. He didn't stay, all while the city spent $30 million dollars in an attempt to placate the RAMS so they would stay in STLMO. A lawsuit is still in the courts
that demands that the $30 million be repaid to the city for false promises made by Stan K., but I doubt we'll ever see anything of this money. City leaders have been chastised for their decision to woo the RAMs and spending so much money and there is a very negative feeling in the city about professional football and the scams they run against cities and states in their efforts to constant move their teams and get better deals.
