"Dianne Feinstein Doesn't Need a Do-Over"

I hope this isn't a duplicate post, I did do a site search.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/dianne-feinstein-video-climate-change-sunrise-movement/583501

"....But what made the short video so rich is that these activists were too young to know something important about old women. Old women have finally—finally—given up on the notion that they are expected to be agreeable to rude people. They have often done hard things: raised children, buried parents, worked at demanding jobs, and seen a lot of history. Bust into the office of an old woman with the intention of telling her how uninformed she is? That probably won’t go well for you...."

I may be stepping into a hornets' nest here given the passion over the video, but as another woman getting older, this captures some of the feelings I experienced regarding the encounter. I appreciate the author's points.

Besides passion and a sense of urgency, there is also great value in knowing intimately how the messy business of policy progress works in a representative democracy and how to successfully navigate the turbulent waters. We need both, not one or the other.

I think Sen. Feinstein handled herself well in that situation. And I do feel a little sad for the kids involved. They were being used as pawns by somebody.

or worse, who puts them up to lie. Loved Feinstein’s response: you can tell that to the people who sent you here.

Even in the shorter version of the video, when the parent?/sponsor steps in to confront DiFi, that 20-something is using the same words as the kids.

Nobody (among us Dems) is arguing against the climate change or environmental message - OR against the urgency of our situation. We, or I anyway, am reacting to the ambush and browbeating of DiFi, somebody with a lifetime career of authentic Dem credentials.

So it's fair to call the adult members of this group a CULT demonstrated by their behavior, with the children being non-cognizant pawns. DiFi talked to them from an adult position and ultimately with great kindness.

The organizers gave themselves away when they posted that the only answer is "new leadership." Why don't they go browbeat wingnuts? Also, to their defenders who say that all they are about is to be against corporate money, no they are out to undermine ("remake" ) the Dem Party.
