One Hellava blizzard yesterday!!!

My God! I've lived in the Midwest most of my life but I have never seen anything like this. Leaving Des Moines. IA yesterday, going west was impossible, going north was impossible. Fortunately, I was going east and drove out of a weather hell-scape. My son was heading to Minneapolis at 9:00 AM yesterday, and as of 9:00 AM today he isn't even half way home. Several hours stuck on I-35 then a hotel overnight and the roads are still closed for a couple more hours. Visibility yesterday out on the road was 1 foot. We've had plenty of blizzards here but this one was something special. Wow! Hope everyone makes it home safely.

It was the incredible winds that made the roads impassable. Cars were being blown off of the road.

He came up with an expression only a dog could make. I groaned when I looked outside this morning. Have my gear ready for shoveling but shit...damn it all.... I am too old for this stuff.

I have a border collie who is just dumbfounded as to why I do not want to go outside and throw the frisbee for him. If I did, the frisbee would most like land in your neighborhood, GemDigger. He’s sitting in the living room now doing his quiet howl of disapproval. In contrast, Kiwi the parrot is singing “if you’re happy and you know it”...ain’t nobody happy about this weather! 🤬

they say it is going to be like this for at least 10 days. I have a foot in the front and about a 2 foot drift (or more) in the back. How much did you get?

Rain is flooding north California so we can be expecting more cold and snow. Kiwi needs to keep singing. Stubby the short dog is pissed at me for not shoveling the patio and a spot for him in the back but Stubby doesn't know how hard I worked shoveling the sidewalks and driveway. Stubby needs to learn how to shovel.

THAT is funny!!! It suits a height challenged pooch for sure. I agree that Stubby needs to learn how to shovel. So does the furry crew at my house.

The snow?!?!?! I have no idea what we have actually accumulated because it doesn't quit blowing. I opened the outside door in my laundry room yesterday and there was a drift that had blown up against the door that was over my knees. I gasped, carefully shut the door and breathed a sigh of relief that it didn't tumble inside my house. At the end of February is when cabin fever really sets in at our house. I. Am. Done. With. Winter. But like you said GD, this storm is supposed to last at least a week. Keep your shovel handy.

17. Stubby has a quick name change when he is being an asshole.... to Trump.

Yes I do call him that, in fact, just 15 minutes ago when he made me go out and shovel the patio. Stubby goes out the door and lifts his leg without leaving the doorway, right in front of the damn door!!!!. I had to shovel the back yard...dog pee, hot soapy water and cold weather doesn't cut it... little asshole trump. I'm too old for this...

Unusually cold winter. Snow, then more snow, then more.
I don't know how people in the Midwest or places like Wisconsin handle it.
Even Flagstaff set a record. Brrr....

And it's still pretty windy. I keep hoping that Mother Nature is going to gift us with a sudden and early, warm Spring. I am prepared to be disappointed.

The most anyone has ever seen here. Lots of flooding. Green River is way above its banks and into surrounding woods. Our pond is overflowing.

the river has been up, but nothing major... All this rain is killing me. I can deal with cold, snow, and ice, but I hate damp. To me there is nothing more gross then stepping onto swampy wet grass and sinking half an inch cause the soil is an over saturated sponge...

All the rain has totally screwed up my dad's well so im up there every couple days changing filters and trying to figure out where all the mud is coming from. last month I had to excavate a little to see if there were any cracks. Im getting frustrated to the point of calling a pro, which I should have done earlier, but hey...

5 robins in the side yard this morning. West Central Florida area. Please don't "come on down". The roads are a mess with all the folks trying to get warm and it's only going to go up to 76 degrees the rest of the week.

Shelter in place. We will visit the mid west some time in the future. Just not sure when.

I blew about 4.5" of snow off the driveway and walks yesterday, in a 25-30 mph wind. No fun, but hardly a blizzard here. South of us, though, it was some nasty stuff.

Snowplow went by my house at 9AM, so I took care of the lump at the end of the driveway and that was that.

I'm worried about the folks south of here, though.
