Not only the internet, but brick & mortar retailers as well.

I've been told repeatedly by store clerks that anything other than a 5 is considered a failing and they will be dinged accordingly. Heard this at Dick's Sporting Goods and Staples. And online support people have alluded to this.

This may not be fair, or right, but to get a 5 or a 10, you have to do a job so far beyond what I expected. Plus you made me coffee and gave me the winning lottery numbers. This ain't going to happen at $12 an hour. So skip the fucking ratings and just let your employees do their jobs, and we should all be happy with that.

Plus, I hate being asked to rate/review service after every single fucking transaction. It's one thing if I have to make an effort, i.e., go to a website and take action. It's another to receive e-mails. How did our associate do? (BTW, I hate the word associate. They are employees.) Did we meet/exceed your expectations. At Verizon Wireless or Toyota dealership or QuickBooks or some app I have on my website or. . . every single other thing I do. Hell, Facebook rates me on how fast I respond to messages.

Needless to say, I am fucking tired of fucking metrics.

I'd be interested to hear from people are who being rated and how they are affected.

Well, I guess if I'm still alive after the appointment, and not in more pain than when I went in, I should give them more points. If they asked me any embarrassing questions, or poked me too hard, I should deduct points.

Shortly after Nov 1, a questionnaire came addressed to HIM..

I wrote in a sharpie across the front..He DIED in your hospital..

It was NOT their fault, but their questionnaire struck a nerve in me..

The internet is not all bad, but anything irritating in our culture got bigger.
