We even went to look at it and loved it. Price was right, immigration was easy peasy but when it came right down to it, it was too far away from kids and grand daughters and we are just too old to move anymore.

However, I will not live in a country that does not care ... and this one is becoming less compassionate and more greedy daily...

If Rump is elected AGAIN! This country is toast, UNLESS citizens are willing to REALLY fight for our country!

and traveled. I lived in Nice and looked into moving and working there. After doing research and applying for jobs I wouldn't have been able to afford it and did not have the skills to teach there. Damn! My dog loved it there and we are still disappointed.

An ‘American lifestyle ‘, whatever that encompasses...

Affordability is important but I have done some research and with relatives help, I could fairly easily move....

Sorry your own investigation came up empty...well not empty, you enjoyed the country and it’s people...

Have been there 5 times.

I would love to summer there in retirement.

But I am too much of an American to leave.

Plus, we might as well fight the forces of the right here at the heart of it. If trump is re-elected and then followed by another republican the same rightist forces will continue to grow and control Western Europe. I would be far easier for a truly oppressive government to take hold in Western Europe than here. Our long traditions, bill of rights and more importantly our radical Federalism create a mighty powerful wall against total despotism. In France all power is in the end held by the National Government. One facist President and Congress and they have almost carte blanc power. And it could well happen.

The best thing we can do to insure a strong, Socially liberal and free Europe is elect a Democratic government in the US. The loss of American moral leadership is causing real problems in Europe.

At least in my opinion. Germany can only do so much.

If I moved, I'd always be looking back.

That doesn't mean, however, that I wouldn't want to move away from this damn, un-ending winter!

My family roots go back centuries here. I know of no where else, nor did my parents.
