No, I shop at stores and restaurants for something in return, I contribute (when I do, occasionally and not much) because I appreciate candidates' points of view.

My benefit is seeing government be run the way that I think it should be run. I personally keep politicians at arm's length and prefer things that way.

Homelessness and hunger are two things that I am concerned about. If people are housed and fed other problems that they have can be addressed. I admire social workers and others that work with at risk populations daily, I just have never had anything close to that level of sainthood.
