Busted for his 11th DUI, having spent 3 years in jail for his 9th?
OCONTO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Green Bay man has been arrested on suspicion of his 11th operating while under the influence offense.
Douglas Lee Kluth, 66, was arrested Wednesday morning in Oconto County.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says a trooper was assisting with traffic direction at County Highway J and Brown Road when Kluth parked his vehicle and approached the trooper. The trooper "observed indicators of impairment while speaking with the subject," the State Patrol says.
Field sobriety tests were conducted and Kluth was arrested for 11th offense OWI. Kluth was taken to the Oconto County Jail.
Kluth approached the trooper at about 1:11 a.m., according to the State Patrol.
Online court records show Kluth was sentenced to three years in prison in 2007 after pleading no contest to his 9th OWI offense in Brown County.

(22,100 posts)Even putting a breath analyzer on the car won't work...they'll simply go to another car and use. I guess best way is to put him in jail so he'll get the treatment he obviously needs (but is not getting). Otherwise, he's going to kill someone...

(52,182 posts)our country is *way* too lax on dui offenses.
certainly when it comes to repeat offenders, and certainly in comparison to other crimes.
using drugs in your own home and not causing any problems is treated as a far worse crime than hurtling down the highway recklessly endangering everyone else on the road.

(115,661 posts)Just try to keep him off the streets before he kills someone else or himself. Years ago in another life I was sitting in a courtroom waiting for a hearing (I was the lawyer, not the defendant) while the judge was reaming a guy who was there for his ninth driving after revocation hearing. He'd been repeatedly busted for DUI and for driving after his license was revoked on account of his DUIs, but there he was. The judge threw the book at him but there's not much else that can be done with hard-core alcoholics. If they're out of jail and don't have a drivers' license they'll drive anyhow.
