Plus, the bank stamps the date the checks cleared, so the bank would catch the deception AFAIK.

Most business account checks have a thing that they're void if not cashed within some number of days. Norm is 90 but I think you can do 60 or 180. So if they were all back dated to, say 1/1/17 before being sworn in, the May and beyond checks might be void.

That's the business reason.

The real reason - he's too f'ing stupid to have thought of it.
