I never like being misinterpreted, but especially when it comes to Otto Warmbier and his great family. Remember, I got Otto out along with three others. The previous Administration did nothing, and he was taken on their watch. Of course I hold North Korea responsible....

....for Ottos mistreatment and death. Most important, Otto Warmbier will not have died in vain. Otto and his family have become a tremendous symbol of strong passion and strength, which will last for many years into the future. I love Otto and think of him often!

(82,849 posts)As originally stabbed out by his stubby little thumbs, that could have been embarrassing for Needy Amin. Well, if he was capable of embarrassment, that is.

(32,967 posts)The local teahadists and trumpers and gopers were all in with this story. I feel bad for his family, their child was a freaking idiot and was tortured in NK. The ApricotHellbeast used them, and now b/c they publically disagreed with him, that asshat replied to a damaged family. He could have let that statement from them lie, but, nooo.

(9,350 posts)I wish Pete Souza would have said more than just shut up. He could have tried to explain how Trump was wrong in his talking points.
It is very possible that President Obama was not able to secure the release of Otto Warmbier because he was imprisoned in March 2016 and the 2016 election occurred in November. Warmbier was in prison for the last eight months of President Obama's second and last term. The Trump Administration secured Warmbier's release in June of 2017. That was about five months into Trump's term. It is possible that the main reason the North Koreans allowed the release of Warmbier was because they knew he was about to die and did not want him to die on North Korean soil. Warmbier reportedly died six days after returning to the United States. The North Koreans might have thought it would be harder to blame the North Korean regime for the death if it occurred in the United States instead of North Korea.
