Ironic?

It is so bizarre that the worst person ever to be president
in every possible way has the most fanatical, worshipful followers
of any president ever in history.

The worse he gets the more passionately they idolize him.
They've completely demolished their oft lauded claim that
they respect traditional, honest values and have shown they are
much more enthralled with craven dishonesty and selfish malevolence.

We were taught that a person to admire would be:
honest, dependable, respectful, ethical, knowledgeable,
unprejudiced, trustworthy, humble and a hard worker.

The person that is most admired by Republicans is:
dishonest, unreliable, disrespectful, corrupt, ignorant,
intolerant, irresponsible, arrogant and lazy.

If he had more of the positive qualities I suppose his followers
wouldn't be so wildly adoring of him.

but it seems to me that he attracts weak, fearful people who see themselves as victims or potential victims of people who are not like them and who are enjoying the way Trump "sticks it to the libs," whom they see as their oppressors.

I partly blame the Christian Churches that have failed us so terribly. More focused on vengence and judgement and 100% adherance to their ideology and accumulating prosperity and wealth. It is way past time for there to be a renaissance of ethical morality about how we should treat one another, how we should value generosity over self-cherishing, compassion over vengence and pay-back, patience over anger, and tolerance over bigotry. Teach those attributes within a spiritual or secular context.
