"Cash is not flowing into the The Trump Org's coffers as it did before Trump ran for president."

Donald Trump Has a Cash Problem

The failure of his sons’ new hotel chains hints at financial issues.

RUSS CHOMA FEBRUARY 19, 2019 6:00 AM

Fresh evidence of the Trump Organization’s financial conundrum came last week with news that in the midst of his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump sought out Deutsche Bank for a loan. Trump poured tens of millions of dollars of his own money into his campaign, but at the same time he secretly approached one of the last lenders in the world willing to deal with him, asking for cash to help refurbish his Scottish golf courses. (The Trump Organization has denied it needed a loan to run the course.) He didn’t get the loan, and the courses have continued to bleed money.

According to the New York Times, Deutsche Bank’s CEO in Germany put his foot down about lending any more money to Trump. Trump’s annual personal financial disclosures show that ongoing hotel and golf resort management fees have been steady income for him, but the fireworks on his balance sheets have always been from new hotel deals and the sale of high-end condos or real estate near his golf courses. The last big condo sale was in 2017, when, shortly after the inauguration, Trump sold a $16 million condo to a Chinese American businesswoman with apparent links to Chinese military intelligence. Since then, only a string of smaller properties have sold. Some of his most lavish pieces of real estate have lingered unsold. Cash is not flowing into the company’s coffers as it did before Trump ran for president.

It’s not known if Trump will attempt to self-finance his reelection—self-financing was a key plank of his 2016 campaign—but with a brutally expensive 2020 race looming and with no major real estate sales, no new Deutsche Bank cash, no new big franchise fees from overseas hotels, and now no new smaller franchise fees for downmarket chains, Trump may be beginning to worry about his finances more. As he groused to the New York Times last week, “I lost massive amounts of money doing this job. This is not the money. This is one of the great losers of all time.”

of course they did not. For all the good journalism that *some* NYTers do, they've also got some of the worst, access-journalism, useful idiots in the business.

Many people who know him or have interviewed him say the same thing. One of his firmest rules has been to NEVER spend his own money on projects.
In fact, the picture is becoming more clear that he lies constantly about how rich he is, and he is attracted to Putin, and other rich despots, because he wants to have them accept him as being as rich and powerful.
but he isn't and never has been.

Protecting his "brand" has been his constant motivation, which is why all the NDAs and all the lawsuits against anyone who even looks as if they are gonna tell the truth about him.

Because his horrible, odious policies have ruined a bunch of working peoples' lives. In fact, Trump has a long history of stiffing people who worked for him, and his kids are just as bad.

I mean, I'm still tripping on Ivanka's lemonade 'stand' when she was a little girl. In her book, she tells us all about it. She says that she and her brother wanted to set up a lemonade stand, but they were 'disadvantaged' because they didn't live in a neighborhood. So, she set up the stand in whatever gold-plated place they were living in and started extorting money from the servants. Oh, she's a little girl - and certainly no adult in the family would explain the problem with asking the maids to 'dig deep' for change to buy her lemonade.

Somebody should have taken her aside then and told her the facts of life, that you don't ask your father's employees for money for anything because it is unethical - they feel they HAVE to give because they are afraid they'll get fired.

Yes, I will be happy if a) Trump is impeached, tried by the Senate and removed from office, b) faces criminal trial, c) is convicted, d) has to spend the rest of his life in prison on a RICO conviction, and e) pay a fine so massive that it strips the family of their fortune.

That would be a just retribution for what he has done to this country, millions of its citizens, those poor immigrant families that had children ripped from their mothers, the environment, farmers, working people - you name it, he's hurt them.

The kind of thing they make 007 movies about. It's likely stacked up in The Kremlin where he and Vlad will divvy it up when this all falls apart. Watch for a one way trip to a 2019 Summit in Russia with all family members. The amusing twist as the credits roll is the look on Manafort's face as he watches his pardon fly to exile.

MONEY is the most important thing to Trump, and always getting more of it for himself. He certainly won't risk his own wealth just to stay in a job that's given him nightmares for the entire time he's been in it.

Although I would feel for their kids, they would likely grow to be more balanced adults than their privileged parents.

If he runs, it will be there. Besides, he gets all the free media coverage he can handle....just like in 2016. Forty-six per cent approval rating. This is insane. Our country is going down the toilet.
