Back in the 2000's, there was this bizarre rule that one could not call a liar a liar. Al Franken even wrote a book calling out the fucking liars...well...because they were fucking LYING.
The same ish is going on right now regarding treason and election rigging.

(52,126 posts)there's some logic to it; reporting that someone told a falsehood is factual, but reporting that they lied requires making an assessment that they knew it was a lie when they said it. that second part is usually very hard to verify.
however, it doesn't line up with the propriety used elsewhere.
hillary was frequently accused of everything up to and including murder, running a pedophile ring, and so on. they usually just threw in the word "allegedly" or said "accused of" and then just ran with it over and over until people were left with the feeling that there had to be something to the claim, regardless of the complete absence of supporting facts.
but when it comes to donnie lying, ohh, no, can't go there.
on the other hand, remember when they kept insisting al gore claimed he "invented" the internet? they had no problem calling him a liar, exaggerator, or even delusional....
