Donald Trump's emergency order hits wall with GOP senators. What's next?

WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made it clear to President Donald Trump that he has a choice: Move ahead with his declaration of a national emergency at the southern border and face a potential rebuke from his own party – or shift gears.

McConnell acknowledged Monday the Senate is likely to pass a resolution to block Trump’s emergency declaration.

“I think what is clear in the Senate is there will be enough votes to pass the resolution of disapproval, which will then be vetoed by the president,” McConnell told reporters in Kentucky. “And then, in all likelihood, the veto will be upheld in the House.”

Trump has threatened to veto the resolution if it reaches his desk. Even so, congressional approval of the measure would mark a turning point in his presidency. Not only would it be the first time Trump has issued a veto, it would put him at odds with members of his own party over how to deliver one of the key promises of his 2016 presidential campaign.

Funny how McTurtle isn't announcing that he will NOT put the "override" action to a vote, much like he did during the shutdown.
Could it be that he's afraid he'll lose even more votes from his "party" if it actually did come up for a vote in the Senate?

Curious minds want to know...................

Trump vetoes, issue gets tied up in court for years. Trump whines about how he tried...and goes on to the next thing.

The Emergency Powers act is Congressional not Constitutional in nature and provides for review of the President's actions. Even if a veto isn't overridden, strong votes to stop this would give support to legal challenges in the courts.

Without a vote to stop this, the courts could rule that lack of Congressional action implies consent.

And if Congress allows this to happen by not forcing it on him, they'll soon regret what they've done. He'll use it to the extreme, maybe call off the next election with made up excuses the Dems are rigging it or some more of his BS to then declare another emergency to stop it from happening . He'll abuse it like he does everything else he does to benefit himself , and not the country. He'll use it to either stay in office , or install one of his kids in the top spot regardless of everything else. He already thinks he's king, and his daughter thinks that too. He has people looking for loopholes to go around laws.
