It sure looks like the SDNY is going full tilt RICO on the Trump Crime family. It looks to me like the SDNY is going to indict the Trump organization and then name Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator.
What a brilliant move. We are all worrying that you can't indict a sitting president but you can indict Trump.org.
Oh ye of little faith look for Trump to have that nervous breakdown I have been predicting.

(7,142 posts)I think that they want to totally bring down the Trump organization. They want to send a message.
I think this news is the best news I have heard since Mueller was appointed.
I believe that Ivanka is the dirtiest of the kids.

(7,142 posts)Could this be the 17 million dollars that Trump claimed from hurricane Wilma damage to Mar-el-Loco?
People there admitted that Wilma blew 5 or 6 tiles off the roof and blew sand in a pool. Give me 17 million and I will replace the whole roof and suck the sand out of the pool with a vacuum cleaner.
Another bad day for the Trump crime family, time to schedule another campaign rally.

onenote
(42,693 posts)Indicting a sitting president simply buys the state AG a costly, drawn out court battle with an uncertain outcome. Better to wait until the president leaves office (and if there is a statute of limitations issue, argue that the SoL is tolled during the president's term).
There are a lot of very red states out there. Do you really think it would be a good idea for state AGs to be able to indict a sitting president?

(9,942 posts)if it is a federal court, then doesn't Barr have the ultimate decision on what to do?
smirkymonkey
(63,221 posts)But I am pretty sure that even though it is a federal court, it still operates fairly independently of federal influence. "Unlike Mueller, the southern district is not constrained in what it might investigate by a narrow authorization. And unlike Mueller, the southern district does not report, on most matters, directly to the attorney general, who is appointed by the president and who might act at the presidents bidding, though norms of justice department independence proscribe that."

(16,783 posts)In plain sight big time.
RICO charges are nothing to laugh at. That signifies willful and knowing CRIMINAL activity taking place. Tax evasion, Bank Fraud, Money laundering. The Trump kids and all involved with running the Trump Organization are willing conspirators in CRIME.
Follow the money is a wise strategy. Donald Trump is still the head of the Trump Org and everything with his name on it.

(10,237 posts)...I remember Tricky Dickie being named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Watergate scandal just weeks before he resigned.
Of course, he was replaced by Gerry Ford, who wasn't bad for a Republican. In this case, we would be exchanging a degenerate prick for a religious nut fundie prick, so no improvement IMHO. Possibly, Pence might be just smarmy enough to con the public into another term...YUCK.

I just hope to fucking hell that they nail him and sooner is better than later. Let him rot in jail instead of in the nation's White House.
