With some regularity, the wingnuts among my relatives and acquaintances all erupt with the same crazy theory all at once, always with lots of slick memes and videos to prove their case. The latest insanity is that the press stopped covering the El Chapo trial when he testified that he gave millions to Nancy Pelosi. No amount of evidence to the contrary will convince them this isnt true because they have their own proof, which Im certain originated on a Russian troll farm somewhere. I would love to have a source I could point to to demonstrate that theyre being manipulated by Russians.
Come to think of it, theyd probably just claim it was liberal propaganda like Snopes.

(2,860 posts)Unfortunately links would bring you back to Snopes or Factcheck.org or The Washington Post. The wingnuts will just ignore that as fake news.

(9,461 posts)misinformation put out by various news sources. Per Wikipedia:
Media Matters for America (MMfA) is a progressive[2][3] tax-exempt, nonprofit organization, with the stated mission of "comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media"
Media Matters analyzes American news sources including NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, OAN, Breitbart, and the Fox News channel. Its techniques include content analysis, fact checking, monitoring, and comparison of quotes or presentations from media figures to primary documents such as Pentagon or Government Accountability Office reports
Media Matters for America was founded in May 2004 by David Brock, a former conservative journalist who became a progressive. Brock said that he founded the organization to combat the conservative journalism sector that he had once been a part of. He founded the group with help from the Center for American Progress. Initial donors included Leo Hindery, Susie Tompkins Buell, and James Hormel.
There is also Right Wing Watch www.rightwingwatch.org. It is part of People for the American Way.
While MAGAs may claim these are progressive sites, always ask which part of it is untrue. Force them to defend their position.

(14,302 posts)Ive found that MAGA types will reject any links from Snopes out of hand. However, if you plagiaraize a few of Snopes particular arguments, and link to what they link to rather than to Snopes, the MAGAts can come around.
But to answer your question, the link to Hamilton 68 that blogslut posted above is what you want.
