CNN Panel of Democratic Voters Go Nuts Over 'Bad Ass' AOC: 'She Is the Candidate of the Future!'

CNN Panel of Democratic Voters Go Nuts Over ‘Bad Ass’ AOC: ‘She Is the Candidate of the Future!’

by Ken Meyer | Mar 6th, 2019, 8:27 am

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received unanimous applause on Wednesday when she became the leading topic among CNN’s panel of Democratic voters.

As Alisyn Camerota asked her panel for their thoughts about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the conversation evolved into how the Democrats are debating how much they ought to stick with the experienced political establishment. When Camerota asked them for their thoughts on Ocasio-Cortez, the panel lit up as they called her “badass” “amazing” and a litany of other positive reactions.

Panelist Mary Reaman commended Ocasio-Cortez or the questions she asked in the Michael Cohen hearing.

“I don’t feel like she’s playing games,” Reaman said. “I’m so excited about her. She is smart, she is intelligent, and I cannot wait to see what else she does.”

Michael Milisits spoke of how Ocasio-Cortez represents the “new generation” for Democrats, and Christian Tamte said, “she is the candidate of the future.”

And,with the Media beating her to death I just wondered if that is not what we are missing.

We may need an outspoken Leader, that seems to be what people want.

I was also impressed by what they said about Pelosi, how they were not sure at first, but nancyis showing what a strong Leader she is and how she is making every right move.

So much for us not listening to the nay sayers, huh?

That is exactly what the Democratic party, and the country, have been missing.

She is smart, she won't take crap from repubs, she answers to their accusations and stupidity with facts, leaves no room for interpretation, she is quick of mind, very intelligent, and did I say she doesn't take crap from repubs?

That is exactly what the Democratic party needs, Democrats need to stop taking crap from repubs and never retaliate with facts, and that is exactly what AOC does, we need more like her, and the old establishment of Democrats should learn a thing or two from her, the fact they have been out there longer does not mean they cannot learn from a rookie, the results speak for themselves.

Stop wondering...AOC is exactly what the Democratic party needs, I agree that she is the future of the Democratic party, and the country. I already said on another post that I understand it is premature, but in my book she is ready to lead.

I disagree with the idea that democrats have to choose between investigations and legislating. That's a republican planted argument and we shouldn't fall for it. Congress has committees for a reason. We pay them to fulfill the jobs of their committees.

Part of her appeal, I think, is that she is able to unify two polarities of contemporary liberalism, the emphasis on culture and identity vs. the emphasis on economic inequality and exploitation. Another part of her appeal is stylistic: She doesn't make nice. She tells truth to power. She's fast and generally accurate. She's for those of us who are tired of seeing our people bring peace lilies to a knife fight.

Not because she is unqualified, inexperienced, or any of the ridiculous RW talking points. But the voters of NY-14 elected her because they feel that she best represents them and their interests, and I want to see her be the best Rep that she can for them, and build on that. There is a lot of good, solid work that can be done from the House; her measured, tactical approach to the Cohen questioning was wonderful to see.

I am as excited as anyone to see what AOCs political future is, and it will be the brightest if it rests on a solid foundation.

She is smart and informed on the issues. She has a gift for explaining things in everyday language, too, and doesn't mince words. She has no problem questioning why things are the way they are. No doubt about it, she and the Parkland kids are the future and that makes me very happy.

...I really like AOC! She may throw her weight around a little, but she is so good at it that it makes you want to cheer her on. Plus, she makes the GOTP crazy.

To me she is the perfect antidote to the very bad taste that Bernie Sanders left in the mouths of many Moderate Democrats after 2016.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with primary challenges to Democrats. But to call it purity is inflammatory, and so is the guilt by association claim regarding Justice Democrats. AOC is in Congress because she challenged a sitting Democrat and she won. Her legislative actions in two months have greatly amplified the case for green policies, impeachment of a corrupt president, and greater inclusion of women of color in leadership. All of these areas sorely needed champions in the Democratic caucus, as they are some of the biggest issues of our time.

These are awesome accomplishments in a short time, with much more to go. Even DU has stepped back from the get-off-my-lawn tut-tutting of 2018 regarding her candidacy. A lot of naysayers who questioned her right and fitness to run for office have gone silent, as they should in view of her results.

The big prizes of 2020 are the presidency and Senate. AOC will help us win.

The same way the RWNM saw HRC as a threat immediately and began throwing mud on her, using whatever conspiracy they could manufacture. The key is repetition, and years of it.

They never got the chance with Obama - he hit them too quickly. They sure tried to tar him with Rev. Wright, though.

AOC can't even run for President until 2028, I believe. They've got 9 years to accuse her of corruption, communism, bisexuality, jaywalking, Satanism, or whatever sticks in the minds of the gullible and fearful. They'll find something.

She can be effective but she is full of herself andis making serious mistakes. Her rollout of the green new deal was horrible and instead of taking it slow and rolling out a policy that the party could support she decidedto do it on her own and gave the repubs a talkibg point. She loves the spotlight and is hurting the party. This is not a tine for ego. We have to defeat trump.

Is a resolution, not an bill, and was written by her and Senator Ed Markey. It currently has over 65 co-sponsors. Policy is written into bills, resolutions are a goal. So they are setting a goal and will later write a bill setting out policies to achieve their goals.

A young woman of color who took on an established Democrat and won, energized Democrats across the country with her savvy use of social media, regularly pushes back against the racist Republican smear machine, advocates landmark action on the biggest issue of her time in a way that previous Congresses have not done, used the Cohen hearings to prepare the case against the president...all in 2 months of serving in Congress.

By all means, let's talk about her ego. That's so important, right? Such a terrible flaw in Washington.

Seriously, find a new talking point.

She has that "it" that it takes to be a big success in politics. She is a great asset for the Democratic Party. Whether she sill be a "candidate for the future" will depend on her accomplishments in the House. But the way CNN presented this story and it's headline, as well as a similar story yesterday titled "No one in Democrat Focus Group want Biden to be be Candidate in 2020" make CNN sound like a liberal "Fox News Lite". The Biden story yesterday made it sound like the 6 people in the "focus group" (today's story referred to them as a panel of Democratic voters) were expressing the views of all Democrats or the Democratic Party.

To me it seemed like "Fox News Lite" because the 6 people were not expressing the views of all Democrats or the Party.
