When I vote in the Illinois primary, I will cast my ballot for the Democrat who I believe

is most likely to defeat Trump. Period.

As a liberal, I understand that many of the policies that I believe should be implemented for the betterment of our nation will be viewed, again, as "aspirational". That means to me that, while most of us may hope that the party will move us in the direction of these progressive goals, that movement will not be a "lurch to the left". That's OK, but there should be movement that is indicative of a conscious course correction that will continue toward those aspirational goals and not just a transparent sop to mollify the "left-wing extremists" in the party.

Whoever is nominated by my Democratic party, even if they are what some would call a "conservative" Democrat, will be so much better than Trump that I will unhesitatingly work for their election. I will do so knowing that the most conservative Dem is still a "liberal" in the eyes of the GOP and that more of what I favor will be implimented than would ever be considered if we lose.

If liberals like me can support and vote for a candidate to our right, it is my hope that those at the other end of the political spectrum within OUR party can support and vote for a candidate to their left. Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. "Better" may not be "best" but it is "good".

And, that's all I have to say about that.

I will cast it for the one that most closely aligns with my viewpoints. In the General Election I will as I did in 2016 cast it for the Democratic nominee whoever that happens to be.
