Why doesn't one of our billionaires buy Fox news - kind of like a catch and kill?

Fox is one of the absolute worst things about this country. They spread lies and our country and its' citizens suffer because of it.

I heard someone say Jeff Bezos should do it and also replace all the Hannity like monsters with decent truthful news hosts.

Do something good with that obscene amount of money!

He's already spun off a lot of his properties, but kept Fox. It's his most valuable tool; he's not going to sell it. Even if it weren't profitable, he'd keep it -- as he keeps the NY Post, which has been losing lots of money for decades.

He will never sell his baby. In fact by manipulating policy it actually makes money I am sure.

Maybe his kids will sell when he dies.

All of the "talent" would leave in a heartbeat and go to work for another network, even a startup that didn't pay them as much as Murdoch did. Eventually, they'd be back where they started.

The business itself is probably worth 100B. Ball park this at 117 billion, but I could be way way low.

Bezos is worth 139 billion.

While you can certainly buy a business using leverage, whereby the future revenues and profits pay the loan service, that's not possible if you just intend to kill the business or totally change it into something else. Therefore this has to be a cash deal.

So yea, Bezo's could probably buy it and shut it down. He wouldn't have much left over maybe none given how deeply Amazon shares would be depressed from the sudden liquidation.

In the meantime, the former owners of Fox news are tickled and flush with cash. A LOT OF CASH.

What would the former owners do with $100B? Probably fund 10,000 conservative causes.

And what happens to all the viewers that now don't get their biased news? Well as it turns out, a $100B deal gets alot of attention. Before Fox news turns off its lights, or goes live with the new format, on another channel will be a new news outlet will be live, using many of the same employees and same format. Why? Hoping for their own future $100B deal someday.
