Trump Blows Up And Threatens To Block All Other Networks From Presidential Debates After Fox Ban

.

Trump responded to his state-run TV (Fox News) being denied a Democratic primary debate by threatening to block all other news networks.

Donald J. Trump
‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump

Democrats just blocked @FoxNews from holding a debate. Good, then I think I’ll do the same thing with the Fake News Networks and the Radical Left Democrats in the General Election debates!

Trump can’t ban any networks from the general election debates, because he doesn’t control who can attend or cover them. The presidential debates are not White House events. Trump has no say over who gets a debate, or who covers the debates. His campaign will have to agree to the debates, but he can’t unilaterally decide who gets to host or cover a debate.

The president could threaten to not attend any non-Fox News debates, but that would kill his reelection campaign. If Trump blew off the general election debates, he would almost certainly lose in November. Trump’s tweet was nothing but bluster and nonsense, but it does lead to an important question.

I don't think there is a benefit to debating Trump. He's a shapeshifter who lies, and you can't pin that type of person down. They will lie and there won't be any fact checking performed during the debate. The best thing is to not have debates with him!

If he says he won't debate in the General Election then good luck to him. The democratic candidate can hold a town hall for all networks in the general election.

No matter what fact, how well packaged, Trump remains fluid and adaptable and will say whatever bullshit comes into his head, that won't be fact-checked in real-time. He'll get the free pass to say whatever crap and he will get away with it. If a Democrat tried that, they would get called out, not by only the RW press, but liberal media outlets.

You can not debate with an insane person or a pathological liar, as they always maintain the advantage.

If you corner them on something, it will be a lie, a change of what the facts are, to 'alternative facts' or some character assassination that is beneath most adults, but not beneath Trump.

The lack of a Presidential Debate, takes oxygen away from Trump. This can be further exacerbated by doing a Phyllis Schlafly and scheduling Democratic events at the same time Trump has his rallys. Beto O'Rourke did this and it was highly successful in stealing Trump's network thunder. This is the tactic that Democrats should do this year. 1) No presidential general debates; 2) Democratic town halls scheduled at the exact same date and time as Trump's rallys.

I didn't think the DNC was actually blocking, but more just telling fox we're not coming to your debate if you have one. I'll have to educate myself on this stuff. I guess in a normal world no one would have to deal with this. No sanity in the trump world.

than the general election debates. The DNC can contract with whoever they want to moderate the Democrats debates. Trump nor the RNC have nothing to do with it. I don't know who selects which media that moderates the general election debates but Trump is not going to block or boycott them because they give him a stage to perform on and he knows that the 2020 general election debates will break all the records for most viewers. And he loves performing on stage more than anything in the world.

So 43% of republicans would approve a democrat shutting down Fox news?

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142128590

“Freedom of the press may be guaranteed in the Constitution. But a plurality of Republicans want to give President Trump the authority to close down certain news outlets, according to a new public opinion survey conducted by Ipsos and provided exclusively to The Daily Beast.”

So that 43% of republicans would approve a democrat shutting down Fox news?

And I disagree that there's no point in letting him stand and try to debate. He's such a poor performer and his sense of entitlement and overblown delusions of grandeur have grown so much worse since the last time he was on a debate platform that he is sure to have a series of meltdowns throughout the event. Plenty of benefit in that!

Is there any benefit to the ultimate Democratic Candidate even participating in a debate with the Dumbfuck? All a debate would be is theater and an opportunity for Trump to storm around the stage and throw some red meat to his dumbfuck 35%. The Dem candidate will be the instant favorite in a General election (unless Bernie fucks it up again), and there is no benefit to participating in a debate. Call Trump’s bluff and let RNC come back begging so the DNC can dictate terms.
