Going through Cohen lawsuit filing against Trump Org... it seems to be based around Cohen saying the company stopped paying his legal fees in June 2018, breaking a contract to reimburse him for litigation expenses.

(8,968 posts)I wonder how many people Cohen threatened to stop them attempting to collect money they were owed?

(145,107 posts)Remember that after the raid on his office, Cohen was incurring a ton of legal fees with regard to the review of the documents seized to determine if these documents were covered by the attorney client privilege. For a while, trump and the campaign were paying these fees

trump stopped paying for this review and that was the start of Cohen getting upset with and breaking with trump.
This will be a fun lawsuit. Cohen appears to be entitled to indemnification which means trump needs to reimburse Cohen for his legal fees. https://www.axios.com/michael-cohen-sues-trump-organization-6abb22b4-9e1d-456b-aa4b-ffc47dddfbe0.html
Details: The lawsuit claims that around July 2017, the Trump Organization and Cohen entered into an agreement under which the company would pay for Cohen's representation and defense through "various matters," including congressional hearings and the Mueller investigation. The organization confirmed its commitment to the deal through at least May 2018, even after Cohen came under heightened investigative scrutiny. In June 2018, shortly after Cohen began telling friends he was willing to cooperate with Mueller, the suit alleges the organization ceased to pay his law firm's invoices "without notice or justification," causing the firm to withdraw its representation of Cohen.
Evidently Cohen paid or incurred $1.9 million in legal fees to have the seized documents reviewed and trump should be on the hook for that amount under the Trump Organization, LLC's duty of indemnification
