Virginia GOP tries to weaken pedophilia laws after Republican gets caught with child-porn.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/3/10/1838770/-When-leniency-for-child-porn-suddenly-became-a-top-priority-for-VA-GOP-Majority-Leader?utm_campaign=trending

Ask anyone in Virginia what priorities the state legislature should focus on, and I challenge you to find one person who would say that the state’s child porn punishment is too harsh. Yet with Senate Bill 1560, that is exactly what Tommy Norment tried to “fix”. The bill would have cut the maximum from 30 years down to 20, and the minimum from five to two years.

The big question everyone asked was…. why? Who the hell asked for that?

Norment said it was “brought to my attention” by Commonwealth Attorneys—yet that seems odd since they were very vocal against it. Louisa County C.A. Rusty McGuire was absolutely livid about it:

...

Then Blue Virginia pointed out something that happened prior to his bill, in what I’m certain was a completely unrelated story:

A former chairman of the James City County Republican Committee appeared in federal court Wednesday after he was arrested and charged with receiving child pornography, according to United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia records.

A whole bunch of us helped Elaine Luria send that fucking slug Scott Taylor packing.

We are NOT a monolithic group, it's just that the right-wing propaganda machine happens to be the loudest thing most military hear.

Dems ought to launch a D-Day type assault on the military. Pierce that bubble of Rightwing Nuttiness, and there's no limit to the number of military members that will support Democrats.

Democrats are ON THE CORRECT SIDE of EVERY FUCKING ISSUE veterans and Active Duty members care about.

Elaine busted that bubble...other Dems can too!

I want to use parental controls to block Faux News in my house. I'm the one paying for the service so I figure I'm the one that gets to decide on things like that. It'd be different if I wasn't the one paying for the service but I figure since I'm fronting the cast for it I get to make all the rules.

My military experiences, if anything, pushed me left and solidified that stance. If you truly love and support your military, why would you want to send it to wage a war about nothing? Like your own child, would you want them to die for nothing?

I don’t get it.

And this administration is trying to "trump" up another two wars - Iraq and Venezuela. What do these two countries have in common? Oil.

These wars have not been about protecting our country but to make the rich richer.

election of the repugs enacting a law such as this to obviously benefit one of their own who got in trouble with the law doing something reprehensible. This looked like a federal crime being that he appeared in federal court...is this a state crime too (of course most places it would be, but changing state law wouldn't impact federal law)...

Norment is telling everyone "it's ok" " no need to be alarmed heyeuh..it's all fine."

The Va GOP was bankrupt in 1996 due to a a massive sexual harassment suit. Allen and John Warner bailed them out from their campaign funds. They've been grasping at straws since. 2017 was a MASSIVE statement on their position.

trafficking.

Assholes.

So goddamn tired of the GOP bullshit.

It's never fucking-ending and shows no bottom limit to the bar.

I really thought the GOP had screwed the pooch ethically during Dubya's administration. Truly thought there was no way they could lower the bar anymore and survive, and part of me thought that they couldn't possibly be evil enough to dive any deeper than they had back then.

And yet every year they go deeper and deeper and deeper into the pit of shame and debauchery, and their supporters just go right along with them pretending all the time that they're actually on the moral high ground even though they are so far below ground they can't even see the light at the top of the hole any more.
