“The president’s strategy, however, relies on a risky and relatively narrow path for victory, hinged on demonizing Trump’s eventual opponent and juicing turnout among his most avid supporters in Florida, Pennsylvania and the Upper Midwest — the same areas that won him the White House but where his popularity has waned since he was elected.”

There has to be a better descriptive term.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that his border restrictions have devastated American fruit and vegetable farms from California to Alabama? Could it have anything to do with the fact that the "America First" trade policies have been disastrous for many industries that do business (buying and selling) in other countries?

In short, could it have anything to do with the fact that the only people he promised prosperity to with any hope of them achieving it were the ones who ALREADY HAD IT?

Yeah, I'd say that is one VERY narrow path to re-election. And for one of his girth, I'd say that with any luck at all, it is too narrow for him to slip through, no matter how much outside and/or corrupt forces try to grease his way this time.

say today that if Dems move too far "left", the never-Trumpers will have no choice but to vote for Trump (because as much as they hate the messenger, they still love the policies).

It's akin to the trial attorneys' mantra:

If the facts are against you, argue the law.
If the law is against you, argue the facts.

If the facts and the law are against you, pound the table.
