Seven countries ground Boeing 737 Max 8 jets in wake of deadly crash

Seven nations have grounded Boeing 737 Max 8 jets operated by their airlines after an Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max 8 crashed, killing 157 people and triggering safety concerns about Boeing’s newest, best-selling single aisle jet.

North American aviation safety regulators and airlines didn’t immediately take similar actions, however, with major airlines saying they have confidence in Boeing’s jet and will continue to operate it.

The cause of Sunday's Ethiopian Airlines crash remains unknown, but Ethiopia, China and the Grand Caymans and Morocco all cited passenger safety concerns — and an earlier 737 Max 8 crash shortly after takeoff — for their respective decisions.

In late October, a Lion Air 737 Max 8 crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff, killing all 189 passengers and crew onboard the Indonesian airline's jet. China, Ethiopia and the Grand Cayman Islands grounded those jets Sunday.

Airlines in Indonesia, Morocco, Mongolia and South Africa followed suit on Monday.

1. Where were these made? I recall warnings made to Boeing when they moved

Into South Carolina to lower their labor costs and avoid unions. They decided they could train new crews in a ‘right to work’ state rather than pay union wages for highly trained and experienced workers.

3. Final assembly on 737's are made in Renton WA

Thought there's been talk of offshoring some of the production to China.

2. possible instrumentation failure mixed with AI

taking decisions out of the pilots hands.

The plane thinks it is about to stall and the AI points the nose to the ground to gain airspeed. However, it is not about to stall.

4. Pilots have been told to train for the possibility

of this particular problem happening with this particular plane. I wouldn't fly on it though. The US should ground them too.
