When all is said and done, if Trump is not held to account

Our democracy is over. Period. We no longer live in a nation of laws. The idea that no one, not even the President, is above the law will be a joke. There will be a “next one” after Trump. We will have guaranteed it. Because why wouldn’t there be? There have to be consequences for treason, for election theft, for lying to the American people day after day after day. For the fraud and theft and undermining our democracy and rule of law at every turn. This isn’t politics as usual. Let this shit stand and there really is no coming back from this. At the very least Dems need to impeach and make the case and bring this to light. We are fighting for our country’s very existence. Do they get that? Hell yeah impeaching Trump’s worth it.

because it will never pass the Senate as long as Republicans have the majority.

You can’t just impeach the guy because you want to or certain parts of the base are impatient. Wait for the investigations to be completed and all the evidence presented. There has to be an airtight, no doubt case to move something like that forward. Speaker Pelosi knows her shit.,

She said it’s too divisive and he’s not worth it. She left a little room that if something major came to light, but essentially saying she didn’t think we should go there.

We can’t go there without absolute proof of his high crimes. Trying to impeach him without the People behind it would be a disaster for us. If he gets indicted on a multitude of crimes, there will be no choice but to impeach him. But I think we get past the next election before all these investigations are done and hopefully he’s gone and fully eligible to be prosecuted.

We all want him gone yesterday but it just isn’t possible right now.

9. But what she said was that

it is not possible. Ever.

Oh wait, until it is "bipartisan" which means NEVER EVER because there is no evidence that Republicans would ever see as "enough" for one of their guys.

He could start shooting people in the Rose Garden during an event, on live TV and they'd shake their heads and say "That's just Trump being Trump and he can't be prosecuted anyway.".

Were emboldened by the fact that there were very few consequences. That lying, cheating, stealing were rewarded and not punished. That they could rig the game so that even though they were clearly in the minority, more of their voters got to vote in the few places that really decide elections.

Yes!!!! They got away with starting a war based on lies and killed a million people in Iraq. Now they are comfortably retired when they should be in jail. So today we have more and more crimes and no limits. Several of my friends are making plans to leave the US and live elsewhere. We have brain drain, folks!!!!!

If there is evidence that results in a sufficient majority to convict Trump in the Senate, then impeachment can move forward. The House voting to impeach is worse than meaningless if the Senate does not convict.

Impeachment is a political process aimed at a political end. The political end is for Trump to leave the WH. Let the investigations by Mueller and the House go forward. For the rest of us, the political process to met the end is to elect a Democrat for President AND elect Democrats to the Senate. I believe a thoroughly investigated Trump will be a hindrance to Republican candidates up and down the ticket. The interesting question will be whether Republican incumbents come to that conclusion before November, 2020, and cut him loose.

The Speaker knows her business. I will watch her work her magic.

a nation of laws. Getting a conviction may be political but impeachment is a responsibility to uphold the law so future presidents will know they will be held accountable.

She knew her okra then too and it cost dems the House. Why bother to vote if dems refuse to hold law breakers accountable. the rule of law...forget about it.

19. No. "Forget about it" isn't part of the argot in this part of the country.

You missed my point. The Speaker and the Dems will hold lawbreakers accountable one way of another. The Speaker is smart enough to have all her Anatidae marching in neat ranks and files before acting. She will strike if and when if it is appropriate to do so.

When there is a grand master at work, the rest of us should watch and learn.
