On Don Lemon - good discussion.
Doug Brinkley and Max Boot are discussing Pelosi's no impeachment statement.
Fascinating discussion, complex issue, dripping of politics of course. Brinkley thinks Pelosi was thinking of how Clinton was elevated following the impeachment effort - and that it is something that is certainly not wanted with Trump.
Boot says "if the justice dept says you can indict a sitting president, and then impeachment is not a realistic option, is trump in fact a king that we can't do anything about"?
What an absolute hell of a mess this is.
And, they are wondering if Pelosi has an inkling the Mueller work won't show as much as many expect, so she is tamping down expectations....
They are now drawing the exact parallels between trump and nixon.

(39,351 posts)And two years later the Republicans had the White House and Congress. I wish people would point that out. The impeachment was not a net negative for the Republicans in 2000. If anything, it gave them something to run on, ie restoring honor and integrity to the White House, because times were otherwise good. Clinton, whether you agree with Gores strategy or not, was rendered useless as a campaigner. And Gore felt compelled to pick Lieberman as his running mate. Impeachment put us on our heels. It was not all bad news for the Republicans. Far from it.
