Political gamesmanship needs to take a back seat to reality.
More dereliction of duty will not improve the situation, or do anything to check the imperial presidency.
That's my statement.
I'm sure I'm about to be roasted, and that's fine.
But you won't change my mind.
I'll offer this one caveat: Everything could change with the Mueller report.

(4,032 posts)Pelosi made a very smart move by not wanting to talk about impeachment unless or until conclusive damning evidence is revealed by the Mueller report.
That evidence and its ramifications may be right around the corner (??). Time will tell. She kept the party clean until nation wide public opinion is on our side to make a very bold move to impeach.
Lets just hope that we, the people, are entitled to see the results of Muellers work, which, unfortunately, I highly doubt will happen to the degree we deem fair and necessary.

Never.
They will never admit that their orange idol has done wrong. Not a single one of them will ever do that. They may make weak little noises about not liking this or that, but when push comes to shove they will never vote against one of their own.
He could shoot someone to death in the Capital in front of TV cameras and every republican congresscritter would come up with reasons why it was OK and it was just "Trump being Trump".

Yes, Clinton was impeached but not removed, but here is the crucial difference:
The Senate HAD the votes to remove him (politically) if they had wanted to do so. However, the impeachment was seen for what it was: A purely political stunt that went nowhere.
It is important that the reverse be shown to be true, if that indeed becomes the case.
It will be seen as political protection of a corrupt and criminal president by ONE of our major political parties.

The only way he can win is by cheating, and if that is the case, his win won't be due to impeachment.
