President Donald Trump decided to weigh in on the sad news that a Boeing airplane crashed just minutes after takeoff, killing all 157 people aboard. Rather than lament the loss of life, he decided to attack the manufacturer and airplanes in general, wishing for the good old days perhaps of prop planes?
Trump is not a licensed pilot, and theres no indication his tweet came from any particular vat of knowledge, aside, of course, from his having owned an airline that never made a profit despite his disparaging, without facts, other airlines.
Trump, for those who dont remember, for a short three year period owned the Trump Shuttle, which Trump was forced to give up control over.
Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly, Trump tweeted. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger, he added. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I dont know about you, but I dont want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!

AS a person that has flown gliders and has spent most of life as a Mechanic or Technician on the flight line..................this orange hair clown has just shown that he lacks any moral aptitude to show any empathy.
This dumb motherfucker doesn't not realize, that pilots, flight Attendants, mechanics, Air Traffic Control and other people associated with air travel and the the FAA working with the certification of the plane that is manufactured in this country has no fucking clue what goes on in the process and all he wants to do is inject his narcissistic malignant psychopathic BS out into the public square.
Just to get in the right seat you have to have 1,500 hours of flight and simulator time, and as for a Mechanic you have to have 1,920 hours of approved training to get a FAA license.
Then you have to pass a three test's to get a license to just be around the plane, and then you have to do an oral and practical officiated by the FAA, then to operate and work on it, and then when you get a job, you have to go school, by the company or the manufacture to be able to signed off that log book so you can work on that plane.
And then he has no fucking clue what it takes to certify that plane just to taxi out unto the runway, and the stress test that is performed on the wing or the engine and "all of the LRU (Line Replaceable Unit's) functions associated with the integration of the flight controls and the computer models associated to the simulators and actual flying .................................and fucking zippy with the orange clown hair looks at this through the eyes of fucking money...........................
All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I dont know about you, but I dont want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!
You really can go fuck yourself asshole...........................

(115,661 posts)Automation has made aviation safer than it has ever been. The problem with automated systems is not that they are too automated but that there can be a tendency either to rely too heavily on them or to fail to instruct users adequately. Most accidents involving highly automated aircraft can be attributed to poor instruction (e.g., Air France Flight 447) or to not understanding/excessive reliance on a system (e.g., Asiana Flight 214). But anything Trump doesn't understand he condemns.
