Those approved by DEVOS and printed in Texas? The only history books taught in the future, (ha, like there will be a future) will be the bible.
Thanks Obama. Should not have done that book signing tour of the Karan.

She gave him 6 years (73 months) on his two crimes in her court.

When you add the consecutive amount that will remain part of Ellis's sentence last week, he has got 90 months: 7.5 years.

if he did it from his jail cell. He has a great deal of contacts. From what I read he was still giving
drumpf information up to the time of the election even though he formally stated he was quitting the campaign only because he was beginning to get too much media for his crimes with Russia.

I'm not buying tough words when not accompanied by a tough sentence. 43 months is less than the recommended sentence.

14. Yet Manafort's attorney complains the judge was "incredibly hostile."

Mar 2019

From CNN:

Paul Manafort’s attorney Kevin Downing slammed Judge Amy Berman Jackson, saying she was “incredibly hostile” toward his client.

Downing said he is “disappointed” in the sentence.

“I think the judge showed that she is incredibly hostile towards Mr. Manafort and exhibited a level of callousness that I have not seen in a white color case in over fifteen years of prosecution,” he said.

--------------------

He probably chose to be a white collar crime lawyer because you work with a much nicer kind of crook, and everyone is just so nice to your clients. Plus white collar criminals can pay much, much more than run-of-the-mill ones. And you can usually get them off without serving jail time, and if they do serve time, it's at a minimum security prison.

But he got three and a half additional years.

I know. Someone please explain to me how it's some kind of multi-dimensional judicial chess. LOFL

Like saying impeachment is off the table again.

It's the perversion of our entire government and "justice" system and it's been going on unfettered for decades. Nice cushy jobs with all the lifetime perquisites you could imagine and all you have to do is just play along for a little while.

She gave him a total of 73 months, with 30 months concurrently. That wasn't an insignificant sentence for 2 felonies, each with a maximum of 5 years.

And now he has to defend himself against NY state charges from prison.

Numbers aren't fungible. They speak for themselves.

manafort was facing 34 years consecutive.

manafort wound up with maybe 7 years on a prison farm or in minimum security if he's not pardoned which I expect he will be.

The state charges should have NOTHING to do with the decisions on federal charges. This fucking traitor manafort should die in jail. Period.

on the basis of the charges in front of her.

And a pardon won't help him. Based on his history, the judge in NY would probably not give him bail.

I have a hunch things would have wound up much differently if the (r) and the (D) were swapped.

I'm done with it. The wife watches those crime stories. They always peg everything to maximum sentence.

manafort got a fraction over 20 percent of his maximum sentence.

Like you said, "It was her job to sentence."

His too. He failed. She failed.

We fail.

adjusts her sentence to make up for the failings of another judge in a different jurisdiction. Any ruling like that could get tossed out on appeal.

And they DON'T always "peg everything to maximum sentence." Judge Jackson could have sentenced him from 0 months to 120. Mueller wasn't satisfied with Manafort's cooperation so he wanted some jail time -- which he got.

A person who is obviously guilty gets retried on technicalities or whatever. So they do "adjust" sentences.

Think OJ or Bill Cosby.

Oh wait - they're not rich white traitors.

The proverbial BOOK thrown at them.

So I sometimes become a bit, shall we say, overworked in my responses.

I lived through the Kennedy assassination and its coverup, Vietnam and its coverup, nixon and its coverup, reagan and its coverup, "w" and it's coverup, but nothing prepared me for what this country did to itself with trump.

I can't believe what I'm seeing today. When are some heads going to roll? It used to be when you didn't cooperate you got the max. And that wasn't just for spite - it sent a powerful message to others who would consider similar criminal ventures.

What message are these sentences sending?

I love a spirited debate but we're all in this together. The stakes are too high. I'm just pissed at this continuing vacillation and perfunctory acquiescence to these traitors.

We can argue about the details but let's agree on the goal. The stakes are too high.

Peace.
