That's 7-1/2 years minus 9 months INCLUDING Ellis' sentence...it's the TOTAL he's expected to serve.

(24,726 posts)At 70, 7.5 years +/- is significant. As are Judge's admonishments in Court.
Her discretion needs to be balanced with avoiding "martyrizing" these Defendants.
I expected something total around 7 years, as, in my experience working with Judges, in the legal system, in courtrooms - there is a tendency to split the baby...
I know we expect Judges not to consider politics; I think of it more as context. These decisions are not made in a vacuum.
I understand there is no possibility of parole?
