Jacob Wohl Faked Death Threats Against Himself -- Did He Felony Fuck Himself?

.

Sure, the Daily Beast reports that Wohl performed a Smollet and said he was receiving death threats.

However, he was also wearing, off and on, a bulletproof vest in Minnesota. While this is normally OK, with no laws restricting it--except for one. Felons cannot wear a bulletproof vest or own one. This is affirmed by Federal & MN State laws.

Wohl might not be a felon, however, there is this other Minnesota law which could bite him in the ass:

609.486 COMMISSION OF CRIME WHILE WEARING OR POSSESSING BULLET-RESISTANT VEST.

A person who commits or attempts to commit a gross misdemeanor or felony while wearing or possessing a bullet-resistant vest is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than five years or to payment of a fine of not more than $10,000, or both. Notwithstanding section 609.04, a prosecution for or conviction under this section is not a bar to conviction of or punishment for any other crime committed by the defendant as part of the same conduct.

As used in this section, "bullet-resistant vest" means a bullet-resistant garment that provides ballistic and trauma protection.

The question: Was Wohl wearing his bulletproof vest when he told police he was receiving death threats?

It's quite a fun story. The guy fancies himself the next James O'Keefe.

Can’t wear one while committing a felony or gross misdemeanor.
Where do you see that they can’t own one?.
Was his action a “gross misdemeanor”?

I'm not sure what exactly transpired between Wohl and the police. Smollet was convicted of several felonies.

Seeing how Wohl works, I'm sure it wasn't just a simple reporting.
