Extremists are initially inspired by broad ideas -- anti-Blackness, anti-Semitism, Islamaphobia, that kind of thing. They look for outlets that help them give voice to these knew thoughts and ideas they're engaging with, and consume a wide variety of voices. Trump, Owens and Bannon are certainly a part of those voices; the problem with focusing only on them is that it's easy to think that when they're gone, that solves the problem.

We don't have white terrorist because Trump is president. Trump is president because white terrorists -- among others -- voted for him.

9. And what better way to draw attention to one's manifesto than to include big names in it?

Trump has been encouraging violence for years. He previously praised a general for slaughtering Muslims. Just yesterday he called for violence. This killer was inspired by Trump.

11. I once saw a bumper sticker that said: US out of North America

It blew my mind and made me rethink Teddy Roosevelt's idea of "real Americans," who he believed to be white settlers and their descendants. Especially, men who hunt and fight and win wars.
I also saw Chuck D give a talk where he mentioned his refusal to refer to US citizens as Americans, but rather USAers. It doesn't flow as easily, but supports your point that America isn't whiteness. People from Canada to Argentina, and in between are Americans. The US was most definitely founded on white supremacy as people with darker skin were captured, imported, and enslaved to do the physical work for them.

Whiteness is hypocrisy in that after hundreds of years of that white people had the nerve to turn around and glorify "hard work" and stereotype people of color as "lazy."
I don't know enough about NZ to comment on whether the US has influenced them, but your post inspired a little rant.

This from someone born in Australia who murdered dozens in New Zealand. Australia was sane enough to restrict access to guns after a mass shooting and this nut job is citing the United States Constitution and one of the craziest US presidents ever as justification for killing people in a country that has welcomed immigrants?

White supremacy needs to be shut down world wide.
