Does anyone doubt that Donald Trump inspired the New Zealand massacre?

Trump didn't pull the trigger in Christchurch. But the man who did praised him as a symbol of "white identity"

CHAUNCEY DEVEGA MARCH 15, 2019 2:05PM (UTC)

Words are weapons. Those weapons can be lethal.

The president of the United States gives both permission and encouragement for public's behavior, values and norms. This is true both in the United States and around the world. He or she is that powerful.

Earlier on Friday, a 28-year-old white man who appears to have described himself as "an actual fascist" entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, armed with assault rifles and killed at least 49 people, injuring many 20 others. New Zealand authorities also report that the attacker had placed two explosive devices on his vehicle, which apparently did not detonate.

In an especially gruesome contemporary twist, the gunman apparently streamed parts of the terror attack live on Facebook. Although that feed and other accounts apparently associated with the shooter have been taken down, the New York Times reports that both the 17-minute video and a manifesto apparently posted by the shooter have been widely disseminated on social media.

According to various reports, the alleged terrorist specifically cited President Trump as an inspiration. His online manifesto praises Trump as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.”

as “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.” Trump's influence is only part of a much larger international white supremacist movement.

You’d think people would be weary of “it was in the internet” but many radical elements use it effectively and, hell, the spare time yoga pants crowd can be convinced not to get their kid their shots.

Trump normalizes it and feeds it because of his position, but he didn't invent it. If you read Anders Breivik's crackpot manifesto you can see where at least some of this stuff comes from (besides the writer's own diseased mind). One of his main influences was the virulently anti-Muslim activist, Breitbart contributor and Trump supporter Pamela Geller. Breivik is not allowed internet access in prison but there are plenty more of his ilk out there, recruiting on the internet just like ISIS.

Everything we hate about him, they glorify.

He's no closer to resembling their idea of a specimen of the master race than he is the evangelicals' Christ and yet both groups have transformed him into some cult hero. They worship an blustering orange combover with no substance but plenty of poisonous bile.

...
“So here’s the thing—it’s so terrible what’s happening,” Trump said. “You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. Okay?”

The president boasted about having “the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump” before threatening to unleash the fire & fury of his fan base if liberals refuse to play nice.

“I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad,” Trump said. “But the left plays it cuter and tougher.”

Some people may interpret this as inciting violence, and for good reason. A couple of his supporters have already been busted for mailing bombs to Democrats and planning massive terrorist attacks from inside the US Coast Guard....

Anything to piss people off, inflame tensions, and generate bigger headlines. Unstable racist shitbags exist everywhere. They don't need to look across the ocean for inspiration.

I definitely think the shitgibbon is making these loons bolder in expressing their vile opinions, but this manifesto reads like a giant troll. It's a little too on the nose.
