Regarding Steve King's call to arms

The general assumption is that red staters love their guns and red meat and the blue staters love their bird feeders and granola.

There's little question, in my mind at least, that the red staters are well armed.

The question I have is whether the assumption that blue staters are not is accurate.

So, DUers, who among us has guns? No need for details. Just wondering.

And I wonder whether a survey of Democrats owning weapons would be an interesting response to Steve King's call for a civil war.

2. They complain when a Dem is in the WH, but don't talk civil war

They'll talk about 2nd Amendment solutions, but it's only when the GOP is in the WH they feel brave enough to think that the armed powers (military & police) wouldn't immediately crush them.

Their really come out when they figure their "brothers" have their backs.

That didn't end well in 1860 and won't end well now either.

If they think someone taking away their guns is bad, how do they think the rest of us will like someone wanting to take away everything?

According to Wikipedia:

Iowa in the American Civil War

The state of Iowa played a role during the American Civil War in providing food, supplies, and troops for the Union army, though its contributions were overshadowed by larger and more populated eastern states.

I guess if you're a racist and a white nationalist, you can overlook the small detail that the state you represent supported the winning side in the Civil War.

6. Yes, I have a gun, but let's just say I know a couple more tricks than just shooting one

And leave it that.

Right wingers are good at shooting school children and praying people in the back, oh they are top notch at that, but they really should not be cocky about that.

used to eliminate a rattlesnake. No hunting. They're hidden away unloaded. Used maybe once every two or three years.

The civil war scenario is laughable. The people with the guns are the ones that are afraid.

Besides, we're still in the middle of the insurgency following the actual Civil War - White Terrorism has never stopped. Ask a Black person.

The results will be the same as the first one. By the way, will you be on the front lines or a golf course with Cadet Bone Spurs?

I actually grew up around guns - Dad sometimes hunted and even took me out into the country onto some friend's land to shoot cans. The recoil knocked me on my ass, and I said, "Can we go swimming now?" (Land was next to the river)

But I've been taking a lot of adult education classes on things that I never thought I would and have thought if nothing else, when I visit family, and they get out the skeet shooting equipment, it would be funny as hell if I could surprise them.

14. Some of us blue-staters don't need guns. Some do.

Some of us live in areas where it's more of a risk to own a gun than a benefit, and one's awareness, brains and courage would be more effective during a low level civil war than depending on a gun would be.

However, everyone needs to be aware that a gun is no use whatsoever against a fertilizer truck bomb parked outside of one's work-space, and that "successful" terrorists practice asymmetrical warfare where the only real protection to the average innocent bystander is to be aware something is going down and remove oneself from the vicinity before everything blows up.
They aren't going to be marching down the street kicking down doors or holding pitched battles on the easements next to highways or town borders. They're going to be looking for soft targets around easy roads for quick get-aways. Drive bys, car bombs, etc.. Cowardly mob tactics typically used when taking over "territory".

Because those MAGATs are at heart cowards, afraid of losing their "family position" in some made-up tribal society to an uppity woman or person of color who just doesn't belong in their neighborhood.
They cling to their echo chamber because they're truly afraid of a wider world - and hate to an almost hysterical fight-or-flight level of paranoia anyone who might open up the door in that chamber.

12 ga. 00 buckshot ammunition. I found that interesting enough to take a shopping trip there.

I can't remember the last time I fired my shotgun. But, one never knows.

I shoot on occasion competition USPSA IDPA and 3Gun. I’m also retired military and my group is usually LEO and other fmr military. Our group is center left politics wise as far as DU and most of the time we are squadded up with farrrrr farrrr right groups I’m in Oklahoma. The last one I was at the other group with us we referred to as “Meal Team Six” I’m a little overweight but these guys I didn’t know holster belts came in that size. They kept yacking about the upcoming civil war (I was hoping they meant something Marvel related) and they weren’t the only one’s in this shape physically or mentally. I wouldn’t call them harmless but definitely not in fighting shape.

Everyone wants to play G.I. Joe until it’s time to do G.I. Joe shit.
