I don't get why right wingers are so cocky about their fantasized "civil war"

I mean, yeah, their skills at shooting school kids and people praying in churches, synagogues, and mosques in the back are indeed top notch, but a civil war is more than shooting people in the back, I hope they realize that.

And it's more than just guns period, you're going to need people with a wide range of skills, a lot of people in war aren't really armed other than with a sidearm. Communications (And you just can't call everything you don't like "SOCIALIST" either), logistics, command structure, medicine (Let's see how that whole "I don't need the tetanus vaccine, I eat my vegetables" routine plays out, k?), infiltration (Let's just say I hypothetically know someone who knows how to cut an alarm system and pick locks, you got to sleep eventually), etc.

And it's more than fighting period, going to need food and manufacturing, and if red states go to war against blue states, I seriously doubt blue states will keep footing the bill for red state welfare and food stamps. In what world will "TIME TO GO TO WAR AGAINST YOU LIB STATES!!! ... but can you cover us for some expenses first?" actually work out?

My guess is the majority of the military wouldn't be willing to fight domestically and the rest is fairly evenly split, so they are wrong about the military being on their side... But they wouldn't be on ours either

Unfortunately for the Trump nation, they have pissed on a lot of the career military leaders/leadership, so I suspect that they will not be supportive of Trump.

If a civil war was to break out, we might be lucky if there is not a military takeover. Sadly, given the GOP congress, I would support the military taking over, until as a nation we passed a civics test.

The only thing that I would add, if the Trump nation desires another civil war, then it should be conveyed to his nation, at the end of the war, we should consider practicing decimation.

In this case...stupid is very very stupid. Fantasized "civil war" is really like the fantasized view of what the "civil war" was going to be. A short simple war, that would be over in a few months. Everything would settle back to normal after the war was going to be over in 3 to 5 months.

..In reality the war lasted 4 years, and killed more than any other war. It was awful beyond awful. Needless death and destruction. Because it was so long ago, the effects of this "death and destruction" are long gone.
Stupid is stupid. It is beyond stupid. "...but can you cover us some expenses first?" is an adequate answer.

Just remember, "stupid is stupid" Trump is stupid. This thinking is "beyond stupid." Four or five levels below the idea of "stupid," and that is pretty stupid...

Everyone is mingled in everywhere, so it can't be north vs south, east vs west, or even blue vs red. Perhaps urban vs rural, but that too overlaps. Black vs white?
When it is about to begin, I hope someone lets me know where to line up.

Nearly every retirement-age white male Rush fan I know has been talking up a civil war off and on since Bill Clinton was elected.

No matter how many guns they collect, most of their "troops" can't stray too far from home or else they'll miss their noontime meds and blood glucose and BP checks. Plus, they'll need to be home to sleep in their own bed because their bursitis, arthritis, and lumbago will act up if they have to sleep on the cold ground.

They're too big a bunch of cowards for fair, face-to-face civil-war battle. As recent White Nationalist attacks show, they're much more comfortable with surprise attacks on sitting-duck civilians or mail bombs sent to people on their enemies list.

And, yes, CK, more of the millennial computer weenies are likely to be on our side. So, no doubt we'll have internet and cellular access while they'll do without.

And whether true or not, we can make all those ancient racists crap themselves just by saying our forces are being led by the deadliest members of MS-13, Crips and Bloods, and even ISIS, and you know they'll believe it because that's how their RW media portrays Dems.

That if shit hit the fan, Millennials will turn into snarling, hell-beasts of destruction. They're already destroying so many things though - golf courses, engagement rings, paper napkins, chain restaurants, etc.

Where I did nothing else but point out that one of our senators (at the time), Nichols, in a rush to blame everything on democrats said that Ruby Ridge happened under Clinton, which it did not. Clinton had not even been elected let alone taken office. It happened under Poppy Bush. For my troubles, I got a "care package" from a White supremacy group consisting of their newsletter, "WAR," (White Aryan Resistance) with some hand-written notes in the margins, a flyer (did you know the most endangered animal in the world is the White woman?), and some other odds and ends. I showed it to a friend while laughing, but he was aghast and asked me, "Isn't it kind of scary to get something like this?" I told him no because I had done my high school senior research project on the resurgence of White supremacy groups, and the one who sent me the package is primarily made up of upper 30s and older, fat "Bubbas" whose main activity is to go out in the woods, drink beer and then shoot the cans, while fantasizing about an upcoming race war of which they hope to get on the tail end, after most of the shooting has stopped.

There's a lot more of these kinds of guys than what Steve King and other "new civil war" enthusiasts care to admit or even know about.

That us Librulz and Soshlysts and Abortionists and Feminazis and BLM Activists and Caravan Hordes are attacking THEIR WAY OF LIFE and GOD'S LAW.

That's pretty much what Trump said - they'll react if we go too far being "cute" and "tough".

It's a RW Radio/Breakfast at Cracker Barrell fantasy.

They're not normal conservatives.

But second it's mainly just noise. They lack both leaders (and no, Coward Trump will not do) and mobs to feel safe and mobbish running down the street with. They could be murderous, they could burn and rape and kill, but without leaders to give orders and mobs to rampage excitedly within very little will happen.

The vast majority of conservatives neither believe we will actually have civil war nor want it. With all this noise, many of course do fear serious violence could break out, just as many on the left do. They're typically good at fear, are pumped full scary tales by fearmongers, and have a dark view of human nature, so that's inevitable in these times.

I see the "civil war" types as dangerous. Yes... a lot of them are fat Bubba-types who are only a danger to themselves, but some - enough even - are veterans and paranoid types who have trained for this kind of thing.
Of course they'd be vastly outnumbered, outgunned, and outsmarted, but they could do a lot of damage to our infrastructure, a lot of damage to our sense of safety, and a lot of damage to our international reputation. What's left of it, that is. We've seen that a relatively few rightwing terror events tie up our news cycles for days afterward. Random shootings, random attacks on power stations, random psuedo (or real) attacks on water supplies would tie this country in knots.
Very few of them are capable of the planning and execution, but maybe very few are all that are needed. The FBI catches the dumb ones, but...
I don't want to even think about this topic. The possibilities are too ghastly.
