(901 posts)particularly pervasive 2000yr old fairy tale that goes something to the effect that the human son of the protagonist, God, is going to "return" to Earth any day now to whisk away all the righteous and especially good humans to a utopia called Heaven. Everybody else gets to go to this place of eternal fire and pain called Hell for not being holier-than-thou enough.
Apparently a lot of people on this planet have become fully taken by this mythology. I can only assume that 2000 years hence we'll see the name God replaced by the name Tolkien, if humans continue to believe in fantastical stories as they have done for the past two millennia.

didn't Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell have CBN - the Christian Broadcasting Network? I'm sure there are religious newspapers, online blogs and other religious news sources as well.

(2,611 posts)Each day it contained one, exactly ONE, piece about CS, clearly labeled as such. Its journalism was impeccable. I know this as I am the son of a man who was responsible for that.

the journalism *was* impeccable.
if your dad was responsible for that--then wow--i'm sure you're extremely proud of him. he did a great job!
RichardRay
(2,611 posts)...but not as a vehicle for religion. Its charter states that it can never be sold and will always be edited in Boston. My dad was the first non-CS person on the editorial team. He took the job after getting blacklisted by the chains for organizing the white collar Guild of Americans Newspapermen to go out on strike in support of the printers in a labor action called against the S.I. Newhouse chain in 1958. After being bounced from job to job for awhile he figured there was no way the chains were going to buy the Monitor. He was chief Of the desk for 25 years.
He died in 2008, but not before voting for Barack. He was proud of that.
Im proud of him.

There are plenty of religious media outlets. However, it is unthinkable that there would be a press conference only for that group of media representatives.

(58,785 posts)but time to remember that during SoS Clinton's tenure the state department established an "office of faith-based community efforts." U.S. churches are active around the planet, very much overlapping with state department business, and there is such a thing as faith-based media who cover their and other religious activities and events.
Not that any activity that might involve the theocratic right who've flooded DC would be innocent or not despicable in some way. They are doing their best to take over our nation.
Had to go find the title, and here's an old article. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/08/state-department-office-faith-based-community-initiatives-_n_3720655.html
