We met at a political rally to get rid of Mayor Rizzo in Philadelphia. Our first anniversary was spent at a Ward Committee meeting.

My first vote (and only ever for a Republican) was for Thatcher Longstreth in 1971--when Rizzo first ran for mayor. He was one of the Democratic Party's biggest embarrassments of that decade (after the election, he switched to being a Republican).

My wife and I have 5 years on you two--we met in a smoky cabaret in West Berlin in 1974.

It seems like the time before never existed, doesn't it?
