Donald Trump may be in trouble in Ohio. He won the states electoral votes in the 2016 election after promising to bring back factory jobs. But recent events show that factory workers have lost faith in the president they voted for.
David Green of the United Auto Workers (UAW) of Ohio spoke with CNN this morning and slammed Trump for breaking his campaign promises for workers.

A lot of people here voted for him, Green said. He came here and told folks, Dont sell your house, those jobs are coming back. And weve seen job losses. - PoliticusUSA
So much winning.
Here's an idea, don't vote for a Republican at any level ever again in your life and we'll all be better off for it.

(12,169 posts)How naive are people that they cannot see through doublespeak, flimflam artists, and Grifter promises that sound too good to be true!?

(2,412 posts)I think these workers just got tired of getting the shaft from Neocon Austerity and the prices of everything rising. They kept waiting for relief but it never came. Factories moved out to Mexico. They were not stupid, they were desperate and this was not recognized or helped enough. Trump promised a lot and he has not followed through and they get that. I think we should court them and build an attractive platform that will win their votes. Empathy is called for here.

(50,783 posts)So that is rubbish.
They need to be realistic and take advantage of other options. The options are difficult but impossible to make.
I went thru something similar back in the 80's. Came back from a long layoff. My choices were stay where I was, transfer to another assembly plant, or find another job. I was looking for a reason to stay but it didn't show up. So I moved nearly 400 miles away from home.

(13,408 posts)Obama barely won the state in 2012 and Sen. Brown is the only Democrat the state has voted for since then. They turned their noses up against Cordray and the state voted for 45 by a massive margin in 2016. So I say fuck 'em. If they love Republicans so much, then they deserve all of the misery and hardships that come from electing Republicans at the state and federal level.
Republicans take no pause in belittling CA, MA or NY. I feel the same way about the ignorant (and racist) majorities of voters in OH who vote Republican.

(4,605 posts)how many rank and file CONTINUE to vote Republican, if not for Trump too. I would love to be proven wrong and see them all voting for Democratic candidates but I'm not holding my breath.

(1,588 posts)I bet 50%. There are a lot of Racists up there.
Obama is a n****r and Hillary was d**e bitch with a
liberal agenda .... never mind that both had worked to save their jobs. Btw the same racist assholes still love their Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.
I would bet >25% of the UAW workers @ Lordstown voted for Trump. Hate radio, Fox, and the decline in public education along with generational stupidity has taken its toll.
Btw I am from OH too.

(82,849 posts)One candidate told you what you wanted to hear. The party of the other candidate said you should start planning for a future different from your past, and laid out a road map for getting there. But you didn't want to hear that. You wanted everything to be just like it was. So you listened to the guy whose mouth wrote a lot of checks his administration couldn't cash.
Having failed the 2016 test, there's another one coming up next year. Study the past and the present so you can make a better decision in the future.
