We Worry About Your People, Republicans

When a Democratic president is sworn-in in January 2021, will your party members be able to adjust to the change? We know that most of them are slow to accept new things, and we’re concerned about their ability to accept the changes having a Democratic president will mean.

Will they ever accept a president who can read, write and speak at an above-third-grade level, and actually understands how the government works?

Will they be able to handle having a president who spends his/her day doing the nation’s business instead of tweeting and watching TV, and doesn’t devote any time at all to making up nicknames for political opponents?

Can they adjust to having a president who takes advice from experienced people instead of TV personalities, and who appoints competent people to cabinet positions?

Can they even wrap their heads around the idea of a president who doesn’t lie to the nation over twenty times a day, and isn’t under investigation by the FBI because they’re suspected of colluding with Russia?

How will they react to having a president who can handle daily briefings that are more than one page long, and actually knows that energy generated by wind power doesn’t shut down on windless days?

Will they accept a president who wants to tax the wealthy and give tax-breaks to the middle-class, who wants access to healthcare for everyone, and believes we should spend tax dollars on things like the infrastructure, education, and veterans’ care, instead of a “wall”?

Will your Evangelicals ever accept a president who wants to do “Christian” things, like strengthening programs that feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and care for the sick and dying? How about a president who isn’t a bigot, a racist, a liar, a cheat, and a pussy-grabber?

Can your constituents even imagine having a president who respects our allies, and doesn’t grovel before our enemies? How abut a president who has too much integrity to demean our nation’s war heroes, or to absent himself from ceremonies honouring our war dead because he’s too busy sulking? How about a president who doesn’t demand respect, but actually works to earn it?

Can they adjust to having a president who doesn’t make everyone cringe with embarrassment every time he/she opens their mouth, or a president whose words and conduct never raise questions about his/her mental stability?

After the thorough brainwashing Republican voters have experienced in the last two-plus years (with your help, I might add), we wonder if they can ever adjust to having a decent, intelligent patriot in the Oval Office again.

Maybe it’s time for you to start preparing them for the inevitable return to sanity.

The same propagandized, ugly, hateful band of racists and culture warriors and obstructionists they were. Maybe even worse and more deeply embittered. The calm, intelligent governance of Obama did not deliver us a calm, intelligent or tolerant RW.

It's un-American, that's what it is. They will complain about everything good the new Democratic President and Congress do, and when they get a chance, boy oh boy, the next Republican President will be even DUMBER than Trump.

This divide has nothing to do with policies, issues or solutions.

Voting is an emotional choice, and the Republicans, going way back to Buchanan (Nixon), Atwater (Reagan Bush) and through to Rove (Bush II) and Bannon, understand this and are happy to exploit it.

Hillary's detalied position papers, experience, history of service couldn't hold a candle to Trump's entertaining, hate fueled buffoonery.

... after a Dem President wins in November, the orange mob boss to go the Ford - Nixon way and resign a couple of days after, then Pence to become pResident for the rest of the transition period to issue preemptive pardons for asshollini, his corrupt family and SIL.

Granted, State AGs would then issue indictments for all their State crimes Pence could not pardon, but I don't know what the jail time they would be able to to get (not just fines, let's hope). If DUers in the know of these matters can enlighten me on that, it would be much appreciated.

As in Get. The. Fuck. Out.
Let them go to Russia, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, or maybe even Brazil.
And I recall seeing a photo of a couple wearing t-shirts with just such a slogan on them.

Simply put, if they cannot act responsibly, they do not belong here.

Hell, I'd even consider donating to a Go-Fund-Me campaign that would give them one-way tickets only.

DO they really view a return to sanity as inevitable?

Maybe they find that cozy little asylum of theirs to be preferable to the real world.
Maybe they will fight to retain it.
