People don’t get abortions because someone won’t adopt their eventual baby. They get abortions because they don’t want to be pregnant anymore. Providing for unwanted children is certainly important; touting it as a solution for abortion turns people who get pregnant into incubators, and I will not stand for that.

So whatever reason a woman might have for not undertaking that risk are her business alone.

The tact of challenging anti-choice bigots to foot the bill for completed pregnancies may be well-meaning but it is entirely off-point and plays straight into their bigotry.

Women do not need to justify themselves for making their own healthcare decisions. FULL STOP.

Eclampsia. The Dr. was neglectful. This is why I am so pro-choice. For some women, pregnancy can be a death sentence. No woman should be forced to carry a child to term if she does not want to. Fuck all pro-birthers. Women are not on this earth to to be incubators for fetuses.

The Dr. moved to Florida from upstate NY shortly after my mother's death.

The kicker: My current stepmother was a nurse attending my mother during my brother's birth. I am wondering if that had something to do with my father not suing and if she had something to do with it. I don't know if anyone will ever tell me. The strange thing is that my current stepmother was a nurse in the ob/gyn ward when she was giving birth. She said to others that she tried everything to get the Dr. to attend to my mom, but I don't believe it. She is and always was a horrible person who hated my brother and I.

Many people have alluded to to idea that something was very off about my mother's death but will never be specific. One woman, a nurse, said she would tell me when my father died, but she is aging herself and may not be around by the time my father passes.

I wish someone would tell me. I know there was something very off about all of it. There are a lot of people who are keeping a big secret and none of them will reveal it.

It was very difficult. I was only three, but I was told that I was traumatized. I pulled all the fuzz out of my beloved stuffed animals and beat my head against the wall. I would bite myself until I bled. I was just so angry and I didn't know why.

I was very angry and not very nice to my baby brother, which I am ashamed of. I know now that it was not his fault but at that age, I associated him with her death. I would hide his bottle and yell at him. I very much regret it, but I didn't know any better at that time.

Challenging them to do so implies that the only reason people have abortions is because they don’t want to or can’t take care of a child for economic reasons. There are plenty of other reasons. Offering to solve those reasons will not make abortion go away. Abortion should not go away. It is a necessary healthcare procedure.

Many more women die from childbirth than they do from abortions. That's a fact.

A woman has every right not to be pregnant if she doesn't want to. And she shouldn't be forced to give birth.

The promise of an adoption is not the cure all for unwanted pregnancy. Should a 12-year-old rape victim be forced to give birth?

I say this as a woman who has endured 3 pregnancies and 3 less than wonderful birth experiences. I love my kids more than life itself, but childbirth is still a huge trauma to many women's bodies.

others instead of truly taking on the burdens childbirth really comes with.

Women have no need to justify themselves for getting an abortion. My wife almost died with our last child in her 5th month due to Placenta previa. I found her in a slick of blood on the floor one night. The doctor said if it had been just 10 more minutes, she would have been dead along with the baby. And this was when AIDS was first discovered and the blood supply was contaminated.

After that, she was scared to death to have another baby. We took care of that. But we already had a beautiful healthy boy and girl so who could ask for more? She always said that knowing she could have had an abortion whenever she needed made her strong enough to carry that pregnancy to term. She was a very strong woman.

A few blocks before I got there, I realized I had forgotten my keys. Being the late 80’s, I looked for a place with a pay phone to call a co-worker to let me in.

About the time I dropped a quarter in the slot, an enormous guy in a grim reaper costume walked up within a foot behind me, and started muttering to me about “don’t do it”, and assorted other crap. I told him “get away from me, freak, or I’m gonna call the cops next”. He walked away.

I finished my call and left. But it was terrifying. I wondered whether some men just seem to like scaring women, and the abortion issue is just their avenue for that habit.

Trump -- "Planned Parenthood is like an abortion factory, frankly. And you can't have it. And you just shouldn't be funding it. That should not be funded by the government."

Pence -- "I long for the day that Roe v. Wade is sent to the ash heap of history."

Bitch McConnell -- "Keep sending them (anti-choice nominees) our way, and we'll keep changing the Court system forever."

Grassley -- "We know if another liberal is nominated to the Court that even the reasonable restrictions on abortion . . . these would be swept away."

Lindsey Graham -- named South Carolina Citizens for Life Legislator of the Year for his support and work to implement the anti-choice agenda on both the state and federal agendas.

Ted Cruz -- does not believe in the rape exemption for a woman seeking to end pregnancy because he "doesn't believe it's the child's fault."

Cory Gardner -- continues to push for a national "Personhood" law in congress, in which he seeks to outlaw abortion even in the case of rape and incest AND he he want to ban ALL COMMON FORMS OF BIRTH CONTROL. He has sponsored a bill that would make abortion a Class 3 felony.

Tom Cotton -- has said, "I deeply believe that Roe v Wade was wrongly decided and that it should be, and will be, overturned someday."

Susan Collins -- despite stating that she "would not support a nominee who demonstrated hostility to Roe v Wade," provided THE deciding vote that put Schlitz Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.

Scott Lloyd -- the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, has said, "Abortion is the destruction of life." He refused to allow an undocumented teenage girl to get an abortion after she had been raped, in complete disregard to her LEGAL right to request and obtain same. The ACLU sued the government, won the case and the teen obtained the abortion. Recently, Rachel Maddow, revealed that Lloyd's department maintained spreadsheets on the menstrual cycles of ALL minor females being held in ICE detention camps
so that he could obstruct their legal right to abortion until it was too late in their pregnancies. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

So, here they are folks. KNOW their names. KNOW what they are doing. KNOW that they are attempting to undermine settled LAWS.

Some smarmy asshole religious nutbag prattling on about the sanctity of life and blah, blah, blah...if they want these babies so badly, why are they not adopting them by the baker's dozen EACH? Its because they don't care about anything more than controlling the woman and her body and her right to choose how that body is utilized.

The woman gets to choose IF she wishes to have sex...not some asshat preacher, EVER!
The woman gets to choose IF she wishes to be pregnant for 40-42 weeks (or so)...at risk to her health and body.
The woman gets to choose IF she wishes to be a parent for the rest of her life...with all the responsibility and financial and emotional obligations that comes with it.
The woman gets to choose IF she wishes to explore adoption options and carry a child to term...again risking her body in the process and possibly her life if things went south.
The woman gets to choose IF she wishes to risk her very life for an at risk pregnancy...

For anyone having a hard time understanding this, I am willing to come visit you, surgically implant a watermelon seed in your abdomen, then culture that thing until it reaches about 7-8 pounds over 9 months time (making sure to dose you with drugs and hormones that will alter your mood, change your diet, give you cramps and destroy your sleep patterns), I will then induce an artificial "labor" for you by giving you Pitocin and other medications that will cause you to experience whole body cramps and for good measure we will find a way to end this all for you by making sure you pass a few kidney stones...then I will smugly tell you it was my god's will and you have no role in the decision...

i also get the point of the meme, however...
i go into an abortion clinic for an abortion -- i want everyone to stay the fuck out of my face. the only thing worse than running into those freaks outside the clinic would be to run into them inside the clinic.

The person who wrote what's in the OP should have just said leave her alone, and worry about all the LIVING kids who are starving, sick, etc. What is posted still makes the woman a vessel and not someone with rights over their bodies and their future.

And yeah, you and I "get" what point is being made, and it is still a rather odious point.

The hypocrites are only pro-life at their birth but they're suddenly pro-death penalty at their 18th birthday.

Pay up or shut up.

You have no right to impose a baby on someone who doesn't want it and you have even a less of a right to bring a child in this world that was unwanted from the get go.

I understand that he's attempting to reason with abortion protesters—although they're not operating on logic to begin with, so that's futile—but he's also presuming to speak for women, to know what's behind their decision to abort, and I resent that.

I think he should follow his own advice. Stay out of a woman's business.

there is no lack of people in the US willing to adopt newborns. Some wait for a long time. This is not a good argument for pro-choice.

is the LAST person who should be even be allowed to be near minor children, much less adopt.

And the whole point of accessing safe and legal pregnancy termination is that the woman does not want to remain pregnant.

Infant "adoption" of the issue of coerced pregnancy to full term is human trafficking.

This is what would happen.

1. Mary walks into Planned Parenthood on May 1 at 6 weeks from conception because she has her rapist's bun in the oven. Anti-Abortion Joseph (AAJ) meets her there, in the vestibule where no one else can hear.
"Hi! Whatcha here for?"
'I was raped. I got pregnant. I don't want to have to deal with my rapist for the next 18 years, so I'm going to get an abortion."
"When did you get raped?"
"Six weeks ago, not that it's any of your business."

"How would you like me to pay all your medical bills and adopt your child?"
"Yes! That would be very nice, thank you."
"That's good. Come by my attorney's office Thursday after next, and we'll hash out a contract."

2. Mary walks into AAJ's lawyer's office at 8 weeks. "Joseph's lawyer is out of town right now. He'll be back in two weeks."

3. Mary walks into AAJ's lawyer's office at 10 weeks. "Joseph will be out of town for the next month. He says don't do anything until he gets back."

4. Mary is now at Week 14, and goes back to the lawyer. "Oh, sorry...Joseph's lawyer is moving to a different practice. He'll be up and running at (gives address of law firm 100 miles away) in six weeks. Joseph says you can only deal with his personal lawyer."

(Mary keeps getting the runaround until she's at 29 weeks - too late to get an abortion in many states.) Finally she drags herself into the lawyer's new office and is met by Joseph, three lawyers and two cops.

Joseph says, "Why the hell are you harassing me? I don't know you. I've never seen you before."
Mary: "But you met me in the vestibule of Planned Parenthood and said you'd adopt my child if I didn't get an abortion."
Joseph: "Now I know you're lying. Everyone knows I would never go within a mile of a baby murdering butcher shop. If you don't get the hell away from me right now I'll have you arrested for stalking me and sue you for defamation."

97. SAY IT LOUD FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK: IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FETUS.
Fri Mar 22, 2019, 05:17 PM

Abortion is used for a variety of reasons, including terminating a viable but unwanted pregnancy. But that's certainly NOT the only reason. Suggesting that women "carry to term" without considering the physical and emotional costs TO THE WOMAN means that the only value a women has is as an incubator.

So my suggestion here would be to edit the OP to say this:

"I have an idea for you pro-lifers out there. Perhaps, you should stay the fuck out of her business."
