At last, Tweety: CARTER "the most honest and moral president"
On the occasion of President CARTER becoming the longest lived tomorrow.
Tweety seldom mentions him even if for reasons of deference. Since I've often tagged him as having been a flunky in the hothouse of D.C. where flunkies get whatever power or prestige based on how successful their boss is and how Tweety has made no bones of admiring RAYGUN (who beat his boss), I have had the impression that he was ashamed of CARTER as a "loser."
So this evening he surprised me by starting out with, "This job (Hardball) where I get to (be a news junkie) can be said to be the best job I've ever wanted, but that one was being the speechwriter for President Jimmy CARTER, who never had a scandal, never had sleaze, was the most honest and moral president we've ever had, who left the White House with his head held high..." And on and on.
As a DU-er said, "Tweety is a weather vane, but *WHEN* he's on our side nobody's better."
