Conway: Trump 'thinks he needs to be reelected to avoid indictment'

BY TAL AXELROD - 03/22/19 09:04 AM EDT

George Conway said Friday that President Trump "thinks he needs to be reelected to avoid being indicted," taking another public shot on Twitter at the president.

Conway, who is married to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, came under attack from Trump this week after Conway questioned the president's mental fitness — a jab Conway made again on Friday.

The two have engaged in a bitter fight over Twitter and in presidential interviews with reporters all week.

The president is currently under investigation on an array of fronts, though it is far from clear he'll be indicted for anything.

Trump is a hot mess of criminal nogoodery. Always has been.

would have continued to fly under the radar, so a $25,000 payment to Pam Biondi or a payoff to another attorney would not have raised many eyebrows.

from being indicted. Meanwhile, there is no guarantee that he won't get indicted. Not indicting a sitting president is not written in stone.

especially since the Constitution specifies that members of Congress cannot be indicted for what happens in the House/Senate, but is silent on the president.

However, I'm guessing he'll pardon his kids if they get indicted.

There is no "Could", Maggie. Donald Trump would have already been indicted, arrested and arraigned for the same campaign finance charge as Cohen - at minimum - if he was anyone other than the POTUS. There is no "could". He WOULD BE indicted right freaking now if he was even a Senator.

We HAVE TO force the GOP to confront this. Trump CAN NOT be allowed to run again. The mere fact that this situation has arisen is destroying our country. We have over 18 months until the election. He and/or his children will be facing criminal indictments by then. 100% chance. He has to be removed, BY THE GOP - now.
