Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCould we please just---take a deep breath and try to understand that, while we do
know that Mr. Mueller has delivered his report to Mr. Barr, that is just about all that we DO know. There is much more that we don't yet know, but which I believe will eventually be known.
The things we do not know include:
---if any further Trump associates or family members---or Trump himself---will be charged with crimes. (We know that MUELLER won't be indicting anyone else, but there are other US Attorneys and various state prosecutors.)
---what evidence of crimes, including obstruction of justice and conspiring with Russia to interfere with our election, Mueller developed but was judged not sufficient for a slam dunk conviction.
---what unethical and perhaps even reprehensible but non-criminal conduct on the part of Trump and company that might turn public opinion sharply against Trump and form the basis of Articles of Impeachment.
---if any indictments have been sealed.
---if Trump would have been indicted but for the DOC opinion that a sitting POTUS should not be indicted.
We DO know that we anti-Trumpers outnumber the MAGAts nearly 2 to 1 and that a lot of smart and determined people aren't even close to being finished with Trump.
I think this will continue to unfold for several months. But, I don't KNOW any more than most of you---or the "expert commentators" on TV who are, nonethe less, doing a great job of filling air time.

(25,342 posts)Charges against his family would likely have been farmed out to states to prosecute so Trump couldn't pardon them.
Charges against Trump from Mueller were unlikely because of DOJ precedent, though that's a matter of much debate. He could still be indicted in other jurisdictions.
Also, there could be recommendations of either or both in the report or references to other jurisdictions. We'll see.

(537 posts)It's a report of recommendations. Not a report that is necessarily the end all be all.

(934 posts)Thanks. This is exactly what I assumed would happen. We have a long way to go yet. Easy. Steady. Calm.
