it's having a calming effect on me, really. The suspense is over; Mueller is done; other investigations are ongoing.
The silence from the Mueller investigation has ended. From here on out, things are going to start appearing openly and we're going to learn a great deal more about the investigation, little by little and over time.
Meanwhile, the SDNY investigations continue, and may result in indictments and other actions that Mueller did not take. We may not hear much about that, either, until they happen.
But, there is no more hidden investigation going on. We can relax about that and wait to see what transpires.

(146,286 posts)Their rise to action has been led by Trump, and any sign that Trump is on his way out is going to infuriate them. What that means is uncertain, but vigilance is needed by everyone. Incidents of domestic terrorism are far from out of the realm of possibility.
The fanaticism of the white nationalist movement is frightening to me.

(12,618 posts)Make no mistake, they are out there and they are dangerous, and there are a lot of them. There are way more of us, to be sure, but now is not the time to downplay and underestimate them. While I don't buy and have never bought the idea that another civil war is going to happen or is even possible, right wing terrorism is a very real and growing threat.

(146,286 posts)We know nothing of what that report will reveal, and may not have details for some time. We can do nothing about that, so there's no point in panic. The story is not over, by a long shot.
Frankly, I think our attention should be on 2020, since it's unlikely that there will dramatic revelations that change the course of history coming soon.
Next November, we have an opportunity to correct the situation. I believe we should focus on that as our primary issue. I know that not everyone is ready to do that. It's time to make our preparations, though, to help ensure an overwhelming victory in 2020.
In the end, the voters will decide all of this, as has been the case throughout our nation's history. We will have the last word.

No, Fitzmas was almost nothing compared to the Mueller investigation.
i think i read or heard Rachel say 150 charges so far. it has not been useless. we don't know yet if it might be extremely useful in removing the president from office.

(28,787 posts)i don't believe for a minute that there are no more hidden investigations going on. i certainly hope there are.

(146,286 posts)That doesn't mean that there are no investigations, but it does mean that Mueller isn't in charge of them.

(28,787 posts)if i thought this was going to be swept under the rug...
I do not feel sanguine as you do. The election could be stolen again. the media won't correctly identify trump's base as the personality cult that it is, or address republicans' abject failure to do their jobs. every tweet and every crazy lie uttered by trump is reported as news and not countered with the truth appropriately. sorry to say i feel pretty much today as i have since 08Nov2016: distraught. afraid for my country and my children's and grandchildren's futures in this country.
we are so far from being out of the woods it feels like an endless forest of nothing good.

(146,286 posts)At least that will slow down, once we know more about the report.
Rumors are rumors. They're best ignored until the truth is known.

(146,286 posts)Since Trump has zero loyalty toward anyone, he's not pardoning people, at least so far. He gains nothing from pardoning anyone.
And you're right, he can't pardon people who were convicted in state court. We may see some of that. I'm not sure.
